P-Star Catch Pack
« on: April 11, 2010, 07:35:07 AM »
I've spent the last few months completely reskinning my old "p-Star capture" releases, mostly in order to get practice in on reskinning.  since I'm starting to have "carte Blanche" with some of Baz's obsolete JJ's (I believe his JJprise 1.0 is free), and had already successfully overhauled a P81 Galaxy, the concept popped into my head for a full "all era" P-Star capture pack.  well, almost all era. none of the concepts and PDW types are free to convert, so I won't be touching those.

that doesn't mean that I'll only be a reskinner.  thanks to GMunoz, I now have a TOS style "predecessor" to the King Class long since listed in my sig.  however since proposed yard partner has dissapeared somewhere into the "pink Mylar balloons" of his girlfreind, if you know what I mean, I have no-one to help me bring my models to life (and since I can only kitbash...)

the P-Star pack will have to do to satisfy myself untill I figure these blinking 3d programs out.

note, I need a TMP conversion suggestion (though I was thinking Miranda, personally)  thank you in advance to ANYONE who responds to this

If, by PDW, you mean Post Dominion war line, then recent ships i released under this era are free to convert/mod/reskin etc. ;)

wasn't sure if you were gonna be around, bones, losing that many Polish Nationals all in one go.  there's more PDW's than just the krakow and Sobieski.  I collect oddball ships.

oh well life goes on and if you like to have those couple (Krakow and Sobieski) in P-Fleet, go ahead ;)

RRGH  :banghead:
i keep forgetting, nearly every Rick Knox/P81 in existance is in BCMod format, which means it's auto-installed.  since I allready have the ship in mind for catch-packing in KM, i'm not about to open it (i'm not sure if it's the P81 version in KM, anyway) EDIT: it is!

You realize that BCUT allows you to extract Bcmods to any folder of your choosing, right?

Kirk: not mine, for some reason.  when bcut 1.6 extracts a BC mod, it does it in the default location (and I'm not about to change settings when I tend to forget I changed them :P)

the Miranda supplied with KM happens to be the P81 version.  so unless anyone's got any suggestions as to another TMP ship to use...(please, NO EXCELSIORS!)

the only Mark 1 JJprise I have atm is wileys (i musta dumped baz's), but, if i remember right, i have the mark 3 JJprise of baz's allready partially converted.

p-stared V'GER?  LOL! (i probably can't use it without shrinking the textures down to nothing so the graphics card doesn't throw up)

Bones: I've had a look.  lovely skin. thanks for not making it monster huge (polies or TGA sizes) for those of us that still have crappy graphics cards.  at least I don't have to add a pulse script equivelant to it.  btw, it will be designated "PSXC Wojtyla", keeping with both my theme and yours

thinking of...I was gona throw together an equivelant skin on something for their Holynesses the Pope and the Dali Lama, just for the practice :P

you can configure it to extract to wherever you want, like your desktop for example, and then cut/paste folders into your BC directory...

hehe  ;) it bugged me that I can't fly my ships without lag on my laptop (crappy ATI HD3560 with 3gb ram and Turion 2.1ghz) so I decided to use PS CS2 to downsize maps without visible loss of quality (PSP 8.1 which I use all the time is obsolete and ruins quality when downsizing :P )

Great choice of names ;)

oh and about those TMP ships (no EXCELSIORS!) you could use Centaur :P it's not excelsior yet it's cool just like Miranda ;)

ladies and gentlemen, despite getting sidetracked by spring chores and a need for a reinstall of BC and KM, all but one skin is finished.  I'm still waffling on a TMP catch version.

the JJ REALLY needs redone

I need to take shots of Gabriel 3.0, yet

I am taking this pack utterly seriously, even if you guys haven't NOTICED yet.

I located a P-starred D7 i had started, and a shot of the Gabriel 3.0 is finally ready

the P Galaxy has a name, now, and a registry.  it still needs some MAJOR improvement in a whole new texture, BUT...

wait till you see the Bird graphic on the bottom of the SunStorm!

So your race has a fascination with painting bold, garish, violently contrasting colors on every ship they steal?

you should see the uniforms!

the colors may be extra vivd to you and me, but to a collective species with a chromatically limited sense of sight, they're pastels :P

and, btw, they don't steal them.  where the heck would they steal a Daedalus from? their homeworld sits in the middle of a gap between the Orion and Saggatarius arms, they're a bit rescource poor, and ended up literally stripping every piece of garbage out of the ocean and landfills and even out of orbit.  which means they're geared to recycling everything they get heir manipulation appendages on, and that includes derilicts.  they don't have an asteroid belt left 'cause they literally used every drop of nickle-iron, and carbon.

Why would a race bent on conservation of resources even bother to repaint ships?

they're Chromatically Challenged, remember? other than the registry text, to them, almost all ship hulls would appear various shades of grey.  their alert colour is a very vivid shade of blue.

the hardpoint for the P-Star D7 is complete, but I need to redo the registry spots

a note to kirk: the colours are dimmer in game.  the shots I've provided are from Nifskope, which I use to make sure a skin looks right.
