Toa Kaita's Music Mod
« Reply #20 on: February 06, 2010, 10:40:26 AM »
I apologize in advance if this counts as a necro post; I havent worked on this mod in a while, mainly because Ive been busy with other projects, but I've decided to start this up again with a twist. As per request, I am going to make two versions of this mod. Version 1 will have synthesizers as the dominant instrument to try to create a more futuristic feel for the game. Version 2 will be more orchestral, more beautiful. Im going to be incorporating the style that me and my friend use to write the music for Earth-Link: Zero as I write the orchestral bits.

So heres my first and second Mission 1 piece.

It's your thread and your project so it doesn't count as a necro post. :)

OK, thanks Dalek. :) Oh, and be sure to play the file before you replace it, because there's an issue with the program I use that sometimes exports the music file as nothing. If you encounter this, reply ASAP. Ill fix it up right away.

We don't have music mods because it's technically piracy. You can't upload music you didn't create to a free download site. :P

Ahh but it isnt just music going to a freedownlaod site, its a music modification for a game ;) also all star trek games music tracks can be ported since its all owned by CBS/Paramount, so say he wanted to get some STO music he CAN port it :P

I like but I think somthing is missing. I don't know h9ow to read music so I'm not sure how  to describe it or what vanacular to use. The best I can com up with is  that the score doesn't seem to go anywhere which even when I here it doesn't seem to make a lot of since. I think it has somthing to do with where vocals would go. I have posted 2 links from youtube that I think musicaly show what I'm talking about since words seems to fail me here. keep up the work man.

Thats sort of the purpose of the music for BC, its not meant to go anywhere; its just scenery in a way.

Precisely, Dalek :)

Here's mission 2, synthesized. I also plan to redo my Starbase 12 theme later, since I wasn't quite satisfied with it.

Holy Thread Revival!

Ive recently decided to pick up work again on this mod, though I am finding it extremely hard to come up with "original" themes. So, I've decided to re-compose some themes Ive heard from various sci-fi shows and use them as placeholders, if you will, until I can rack my brain with original themes for everything. So on that note, is anyone here by chance a fan of Bear McCreary? ;) (This piece is the orchestral version and is incomplete; I am still adding things to it such as drums and different instruments, but I am making progress.)

You kidding? BSG's soundtrack was godlike! Good to hear you're getting back into this project though.

Bear is my favourite composer, he's friggin' awesome.

You should hear my mate rip up Prelude To War on the electric guitar. It's incredible.

Episode 1 Futuristic Feel puts me in mind of Metal Gear Solid.

Klingon Academy now works on XP/Vista/Win 7 thanks to one dude's patches, click here for details. I highly recommend it!

I really like both of these, but the second one really has a nice professional feel to it. I agree with JamesTiberiusKirk about the guitars. Maybe add some reverb to them and pan the effect to widen the image. Looking forward to listening to these in BC.

that would be a solid yes...

ya he is...  amazing talent for someone relatively young (being 31 now, but mid to late 20s during BSG) i think after BSG, he is set for life!
(and he is a total hottie lol)

LOL!  :funny

Im still learning the program, as I dont often use it except to compile sounds and music for my animated movies, but Im definitely looking for a way to add more reverb to them.

And thanks for the cookie, furswift. :D
