Install and Mod BC from scratch.
« on: November 10, 2010, 03:07:31 PM »
I am getting back into Bridge Commander after a few (like 5-6) years, and everything I knew about modding it went out the window.

If I am installing BC from scratch, what is the best Mods and Packs to install, in what order?

I have installed the latest version of BCMP, BCSuperMod3, and NanoFX Beta 2.0, but I get nothing, stock ships, stock gfx.  Only thing I see is that the registries in single player is messed up, looks over sized.

System specs.

Windows 7 64
AMD Athlon 7750BE
4GB DDR2 3200
Radeon X1950 256MB - 24" Benq
Asus M2A-VM

first of all what you installed doesn't like each other. lol

BCSuperMod 3.0 is supposed to be installed all by itself over a clean BC 1.1 install.
once you load BC then go to the config menu and look for a section called mutators and enable them.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

+10 cookies for nero for his hard work on the wiki :)

btw, Oroka - get rid of BCMP/BCMI, they are old, outdated and buggy...

look for Bridge Commander Universal Tool (BCUT) at BCFiles - they do everything those old programs did and much more...

also, i would recommed multiple BC installs...  one for Single Player (which Supermod and its required mods would be best for), one for QB and personal modding (which KM and modding would be best for), and one for multiplayer (if you play MP, again an install for KM as base tho completely untouched and not modded)...

please feel free to ask further questions :)

Thanks Jimmy :) , I just the Wiki was more "visible" to the community so that more people could check it out and add to it...

Thanks for the replys.

I did a repair install, then installed BCMI and SuperMod 3.  I am still getting some weird name textures in SP, I will do a full clean install, I just dont want to lose my SP game :D

Nero, I actually searched for how to change the ships in SP, and your Wiki is what lead me to BCUT.  I havent used it yet, but after I complete the SP.

Here are a few screen caps of examples of screwy textures.  Im not sure if that is the C2 Sovereign, but IIRC, I had problems with the Galaxy Class before I installed any mods.

yeah I'd do a clean 1.1 install and just install BC Super Mod and don't mess with BCMI.

Those screwy textures are the original stock registry textures being used on the CG Sov. What you need to do to fix:

1. Install the original CG Sov in a separate folder outside of BC

2. Copy the "Enterprise.tga" and "Sovereign.tga" files from there into your BC install (Data/Models/Ships/Sovereign/High)
