Title: The Dangers of Warp Drive
Post by: Cube on August 26, 2007, 06:07:21 PM
I managed to pilot the USS Kyoto into some odd collision - my ship was hurtled away at massive speeds. To try and rectify the massive speed, I proceeded to go to warp.

It solved the engine problems. But the Kyoto had been squashed - possibly due to a damaged warp drive. So I went to warp a few more times, just to see what would happen. My ship just got longer and thinner with each warp.

what the fark? I've seen collisions like that on more and more ships lately.  The last one I had was with the CG sov (remember it?) and it just got sent spinning away at an incredible speed.  Never heard of the stretching thing though...

Doesn't the ship have some kind of stretching effect applied to it when you jump to warp as part of the stock game? mabye it's just gotten stuck on somehow?

Yes, the warp stretching thing wasn't reversed.

that's weird! I've had the "spinning" problem but never the stretching.

O.K., who shut off the inertial dampers when we went to warp?

lol.
I know the spinning effect as well, but never saw this ... strange stretching effect...

Several more jumps like that, and you'd have the only ship ever that has a turbolift which can take you to the delta quadrant and back :)

ok this would be a conversation of two bridge crew members after those jumps

jump1: is it just me or are things looking cramped?
jump2: did you move your seat closer to me or somthing?
jump3: THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN!!!!!!!
jump4: cant...........breathe.........*dies from lack of oxygen and crushing walls*
