Title: Century Class Refit ( Retexture and Hardpoint )
Post by: Meteorafallen on December 12, 2007, 03:13:59 AM
Hey everyone!

Long Time No See!!

I know its been a while since ive been around but i thought id show off what ive been working on for a while , a retexture of the DJ Curtis's Century Class. Im deciding to move away from my usual "war" retexture style and go for something a lil less stand out-ish. Not as godly which i thought the War-Sovereign was, this one will feel more like a Refit and not an all out blow everything in my ship list up. This one will be more balanced but docile, and i might just throw in a beefed one up for the ones that want one similar to the War-Sovereign. I thought about releasing an Excalibur class named the USS Archangel-A, but i decided to scrap it and i choose the century as its successor. I thought of it as the next logical step, and the Excalibur as even more down the road from the Century.

It's no problem.  Feel free to mess around with it and release it if you like.  I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with. :D  It's funny that you decided to change the deflector to a gold color; I too made it gold for the as yet unreleased NX USS Century.

that looks quite cool
the black parts remind me of carbon platings...^^
it gives the century class a more warship-like look!

Just being random :D I like random suits the south and garlic :)

Back on topic, and I must ask if you plan on a tri-nacelled Century class, because if you do I'd expect flamewars from the anti-nacelle boys ;)

I swear, if anyone dares to desecrate my work with a third nacelle.... :)

I swear, if anyone dares to desecrate my work with a third nacelle.... :)
take that nacelle apart, call the modder and smack him with it.

nice retexture you have there. however, if it's a refit, but not in the sense of the war sovereign, I think a grey-ish armor or a more contrastant aztecing instead of black armor would be better.
refits are aimed for the ship to be capable of surving a beating without much damage, not as a holy-freaked-load of Borg-owning firepower.
keep it up. this will be perfect as a Chirstmas present

Thank you very much DJ for allowing me to proceed,im happy that you like it. And you have nothing to worry about... im not adding a 3rd nacelle, the thought of it makes me twitch.

ill have to agree, having really dark hull armor on the century class doesnt look right, i look foward to seeing more,  :D

i have to agree with these guys...  tho the black armor does look sharp, you did mention youre trying to move away from your usual "war" retexture style, but with the black armor, thats exactly how it looks - more "war"-like...

If it's any help to you...

The Century Class is not a warship.  My intention was for it to represent a return to the 'multi-mission' category of Starship, such as the Galaxy Class did 40 years before this class was launcher.  (First Galaxy started testing around 2355, this ship commissioned in 2395)  First and foremost, the Century Class is an Explorer.  The heavy shielding, armor, and weapons are simply required for the ship to be able to execute any and all Starfleet policy options, including defense.

That being said, the Galaxy Class did receive a combat capability upgrade in the 2370's when it became necessary, so I suppose if there were a need for this ship to be upgraded in the early years of the 25th century (hence the name) then it's not inconceivable.

Btw, if anyone's curious, I first got the idea of the name Century Class when I was driving down a freeway and a big rig pulled up along side me.  On the side of the engine cover it read "Century Class".

and with that being said poll closed XD

ill see about toneing these textures down some, but i dont think im gonna do the whole war thing
Title: Re: Century Class Refit ( Retexture and Hardpoint )
Post by: Darkthunder on December 12, 2007, 03:56:53 PM
Too much black panelling if you ask me.

A change of deflector color could indicate a refit such as one of your first pics of this retexturing. Perhaps some moddest additions in the form of dark grey or black panneling could be an indication as to added ablative hull armor components. But not to the extent you have now to be honest.

I usually hate War refits. But your retexture has changed my whole perspective on them. Excellent work.

PS: Original Ent-F still kicks major a**!!!

PPS: Please dont port it to Legacy Meteor. Its too good for 'them'.

well i couldnt if i wanted to cuz Dj is against porting to legacy, i havent even touched legacy myself either this is the first thing i have worked on in 9 months

Wow, we're TELEPATHIC!!! O_O

I was working on a retexture of this ship about a month ago and it actually turned out to be a 'torn-apart-and-put-back-together' ship in MS3D. It's incredible how similar our armor ideas are. :) The major difference is that I added a third and fourth nacelle to the model and, to be honest, save for the textures for the top of the saucer and hull between the nacelle pylons, it didn't actually turn out too well. In any case, it was a HUGE learning experience... and you're doing this better than I did, so... CHEERS!!  :D Besides, I have a much more fun project now...

Again, this is cool!

-Aeries.

(Oh, yeah, by the way... any chace you could throw together a USS Serenity with this? It was the name I was giving my original project, but since it was dumped... :/ I dunno, just always wanted a Century-class USS Serenity...  :P up to you!)

I have a suggestion.  Since throwing black or dark grey paneling on a ship makes it look more warlike.  So instead, why not go back to using a secondary color scheme, like on the ambassador Class.  Feds have used Duck egg blue and whatever that light yellow is in the past.  Though I'm not positive that it will even look decent on the century, but I thought it was worth throwing out there to see what people thought.

intriguing, i like the color scheme that you have so far

Shion's idea is a good one as well...

so, why not do both?  a normal refit and a "tactical" refit?

Im gonna use that 'tactical refit' Jericho if you don't mind. I shall make 2 versions..the one that you see here shall be known as the Tactical Refit, and the other shall be a 2 tone ship used for diplomatic escort.

Argh, the bright blue, it burns my eyes.

As for the ship, looks great, I personally think the contrast is great. I'd suggest not going with a war refit, but perhaps just like a variant made more for combat than general purpose. And given how great the difference is...

The Creator is very still into this project ;) As for you "necro-bumping" this thread i will forgo asking the admins to lock the thread. My current situation prohibits me from working on any of my projects. My computer has taken a turn for the worse im afraid, there was a power surge in my home which blew through my circuit breaker strip and fried the power supply of my computer. And its very difficult to acquire a 200-250 watt power supply around here, so until then all of my projects will be placed on hold until i am able to get up and running again.

I appreciate everyones interest in this mod and i can assure that you will all be surprised at the quality of this project once i am able to show it to the community.

-Meteorafallen

P.S. If anyone has a 200 watt power supply that they are willing to part with i would be very much appreciated.

Awe man, trust me, I know your pain. xD Mine exploded. Boom. Quite fun. In any case, best luck. THough a 200/250 watt should be as easy to find as a water particle... dump? used PSW from a compy store? I used to have TONNS back in the days when my best bud and I had seven operational computers each and LAN parties up the frakin' ying~yang. [Good days :D]

Anyways, hopw you get back up and functioning soon!
