Title: Coming Soon: USS Century
Post by: DJ Curtis on January 04, 2008, 03:52:34 PM
I've finally gotten around to finishing this ship.  It was basically done back in October, but I had some registries saying NX-81921 as they should, and some others saying NCC-81921.  So I fixed those, and a few other things.

It's not incredibly different from the Enterprise F.  Slightly less powerful, some hull texture changes and flag color changes just for fun.  Oh, and as you can see the deflector is yellow.  A little homage to the drydock deflector of the 1701 in ST:TMP.

I'm putting the final touches on the whole thing at this time.

Looks nice!  One minor tweak- should the upper registry be curved/arched instead of horizontal?  I'm looking forward to it.

Very nice.

I like the static light above the main registry, it's a nice touch. It's already got my download, good job DJ Curtis!!   8)

I guess my biggest motivation for getting this ship done and released is to thank everyone who voted for me in the BCFiles Single Ship award of the year.

The Century's finally getting her spotlight, aye? She's a beauty, just like the Enterprise. And though not as strong, I believe that'll make me happier; perhaps some battles will be more challenging now, whilst I use one of my favorite ship classes.

Superb work, as always.

I like her way better now. Personally I always cringe when a ship has "NCC-1701-#" or "Enterprise" on it's hull. The yellow dish takes some getting used to for me but it looks hot. NX-81921 would roughly be the 2380's, considering reconstruction of the fleet post-dominion wars and and the USS Titan being the NCC-80102. Looks great!

Very good to see the pathfinder of a class sailing out of drydock.  Of course I still love the Enterprise, but it's good to see others of the same class.

Thanks for doing this for all of us DJ.  You deserved our votes and, if they every release another movie or show.  They better use your Enterprise F for I reckon anything else just wouldn't stack up to it.  lol.

Looking foward to the download.

Looking good!  Is the polygon count about the same or did you optimize it a bit more?

I like the changes made to the nacelles. But to be honest, not so keen on the yellow deflector.

Did you end up fixing that tractor beam problem I mentioned back in the Ent-F WIP thread months ago?

I finally caved in and downloaded the Enterprise-F today, and thoroughly enjoyed it (I usually dislike future timeline vessels).

I admit that the Enterprise is sickingly strong (took her up against a Romulan starbase mono-a-mono and won!) so I welcome a more lightly armed variant.

i must admit i feel the same way...
but it is a beautiful ship nonetheless and it will be used many many times when i am able to fire up BC :)

I'd give her a different deflector personally, more like the galaxy class you made, the ribbed blue edge with a highlighted oval in the centre. The yellow does clash. But the ship is gorgeous anyway.

I would tend to have to agree, deflectors generally have blue lighting....... however we could do a power down feature in NanoFX that could change low powered deflectors to a yellow color or some other color.  I dunno why TMP did that really...... maybe the FX Composition editors forgot for those scenes and they just left it yellow lol

Perhaps the TMP yellow was in fact a nod to the previous copper dishes, which when energized take a blueish energy hue or generate a field or so. But I agree that blue is the norm. The yellow on the sovereign was fitting somehow.

Doesn't bother me at all. The Sovereign had a yellow deflector, anyways.

Sent to BR32.  He says it should be up tonight.

Deflector is yellow.

*edit*

the ship is now available at bcfiles.  I'm gonna lock this one.
