I'm sorry but I want to know if someone is making the Legacy Class.

I was thinking the same, just make sure you ask the original creator before you start

Nice ship. Shame about the name though!

But I don't know where to start. Yes I have to ask the original creator if I can do it, but my modeling skilles are not so good. One the other hand I've found some pictures off the front, rear, Up, down, left and right. (I think you call it diffently).

Bow, Aft, Port, and Starboard.

Pratice modelling. It's the only way to get better. Don't expect it to happen over night though, there's only enough room for one DJ Curtis on these boards. :P

look thru this forum and especially thru BCU for explanations about learning how to model and make a ship from scratch...
the information is out there, it just takes some research and always feel free to ask questions as you go...

wiley, myself, and rengers have come a long way since we first started out here. It can be tough and time consuming, but ive seldom had such a gratifying experience than when ive learned something new and improved my model. Patience and love for what your doing is key. If you have that, heck, you can do anything. I'd love to see this ship... Best luck.

ah yes. Having fellow modders to harass on MSN are invaluable too. I suggest bugging lint. He likes to be harassed. LOL, kidding... But on that point, you have a lot of support here. Dont hesitate to ask if your stuck.

I did do my own legacy, it was called USS Legacy but Janus Class. Not worth showing as it was one of my first models (after mantis v1) and it needs to be redone.

Actually, kaden, one of the original designers of the Cadence, WAS making a BC-ready model, but I don't think he finished it, and if he did, it wasn't textured.

Never EVER refer to these ladies as BOATS. They're called SHIPS, Starships to be exact. You never heard of a StarBOAT, i'm sure of that...

If anything they've said Spaceship, or Starship... never ever have they referred to them as BOATS. End of story. On topic thou, this ship should definitely be made for BC. Any takers? :P

Well, actually, I remember one anniversary special, I think about 10 years back now, where they had stuck an image of the Enterprise-D onto a boat as a gag on the opening credits. I think it had something to do with the wheel in ST:V as well, not sure though.

Anyway:

Here's the Legacy class in action, shows underside:

I'll take it. I've got a few more tutorials in Max to finish but then i should be able to make a start. It would be a good first project for me.

Thanks for the offer of using you model (it's good quality) but i'd like to create it from scratch since it's my first moddeling project.

Does anybody have images of the front, top, sides etc. It would be best if their all to scale and face on (like blueprints).

I think Kaden or somebody here has a crap load of pics uploaded on deviant art. I know I saw a lot of pics there some time ago... Try a search for it.

Thanks man. I downloaded your model into Max and I must say it's very good. There's no way I could come close to that quality (I can't even get the basic outline of the saucer). Does anybody know some good online tutorials (perhaps one for a modern (excelsior or newer) starship)?

Check google for "3D Studio Max Tutorials". I'm sure you'll find plenty.

I checked but there didn't seem to be any starship ones. Perhaps if I find a car to model or somthing else.

Don't worry guys, i'll still have a go at it but it may be a while until I start. I'm gonna try a few simpler ships first (Borg ships, Connie, etc).

I've decided to go with Kaden's mesh. Although I could get the saucer section perfect, I couldn't do the stardrive. So i'll use this ship to learn UVW mapping and some scripting and then I can have a go at creating my own ship in the future. Once I make some progress i'll start a WIP.

edit: just not with texturing, since I've never really done it...
