Title: your own bridge commander setup
Post by: kevingibson on June 18, 2008, 06:06:38 PM
hello all,
just kind of wondering how many of you have forgone km01 as your regular  full   conversion mod,
and have built your own version of bc,, meaning downloaded your own choice of ships
maps and mods, weapons  etc, to your liking,,,,,,,,

Before KM, we did just that, and I suppose everyone still does that.

But to make it MP compatible, as KM has done, not a lot.

The one big thing about KM, is that it has loads of mods, even those that normaly don't work in MP, and it works good in MP.

There is another possibility, you build the entire infrastructure, aside for App.py and the executable, from scratch yourself, now that is your very own BC setup. ;)

Not suggesting anyone do that. *Whistles a bit * :king

I have:
CleanSTBC - My back-up install
************* - Testing something secret ;)
Halo STBC - Testing the Halo related stuff I was doing
KM STBC - Just KM1.0, for playing online
MP SGBC - My KM and Stargate install with the MP patch
Test STBC - A general install for testing stuff.

I used to have several other before I formatted my HDD, including one that I just packed full of all the mods I liked. Inevitably, it didn't work!

It sure would be satasifying.

I hate it when that happens.

Wait till I have something more than just a black screen. :P
And no, it's not because of some error.

I'm using KM 1.0 as the base for a new multiplayer mod. It will include mainly
TNG and DS9 era ships, but I'm going to include a few other goodies too.

I'll also be using existing mods that are compatible with KM 1.0 such as textures,
music, and sfx that will enhance the atmosphere of the game.

The hardpoints will also be uprated and rebalanced. No more pwnage with
Sovereigns, Negh'Vars, Intrepids, and Defiants. Every ship will have the
capability of beating another using strategy, tactics, and good captainship.

I also thought a lot of ships were taking up space and were kind of there
as what if ships or canon fodder like the Romulan Shrike, Vaskholr, and
the USS Lenox. These designs are just a bit tacky for my taste. Needless
to say they will be removed and replaced with better ships.

tho i can really see its appeal and why it is so popular and i am of course very happy that alot of people put alot of hard work into something that is really awesome for people who really enjoy MP...
but i just never really got into the whole MP realm - i guess im a loner lol
