To get a laptop unit capable of running modded BC and the MPE? I am half way tempted on getting one simply because I find myself needing to kill time and wish I could work on a mod or something.

Oh that is gonna be handy, [how about TDE?]

Very, very hard.
Dell XPS. Solves everything

Really? I wouldn't have thought it was any harder than getting it all to run on a PC :?
-
lol?
my ibm thinkpad (feels like stoneage) can easily handle both.
never experienced any problems with it...
it IS too old for massive amounts of modded ships but other than that it runs all fine on it

My interest is piqued by this statement, do you mean "just" habing massive amounts of modding ships installed, or using all those modded ships in a quick battle?
I do admit, that having loads of ships installed is making the new SubMenu sluggish.

using in quick battle ;)

I didn't know Dell was good for anything but target practice. I know back when BC was new getting it to run on any laptop that cost less than 3 grand was going to be tough...But I don't keep up on them. I am looking for something cheap with decent hd space and atleast 1 usb port so I can stick on a fullsize mouse. I aint going to tru and run the mpe off a touch pad or whatever those crummy little knobs they use in the middle of the kayboard for the mouse...well make that 2...need one for the flashdrive.

I to have MASSIVE , with them 'touch-pads' personally for me they can just forget them, But other people do not find them hard, I'm just in the minority , with few others.

I used to own a Dell 5150 notebook and i was able to run KM 0.9.1 on it with no lag as well as MPE worked great till the AC adaptor plug got fried

Everyone bitches about Dell, Vista and Norton. I have all 3 and the only problem I've ever had with my computer was caused by AIM. Kinda says it all really!
