Does any1 know how FTECH Fed Ablative Armour works? I have been a long time user of ATP Ablative Armour and have been experimenting with FTECH Ablative, and Fed Ablative Armour. I noticed that with Fed Armour, subsystems can be damaged before the armour is destroyed unlike ATP or regular FTECH Ablative armour which protects everything until its destroyed, can any1 explane how this works, i actually like Fed Armour better as it seems more canon but would like to understand its perameters better before i start refiting my 500 + ships and Fighters.

There are two different Ablative Armour systems for FTech, one by Apollo/Dasher and one by Defiant in KM. They are different.
The Fed Ablative Armour is the one by Defiant and isn't included (as standard) in FTech.
Have you checked the console if it says anything about the player ship? It's possible that you don't have the tech yet.
Also, please put up the plugin you are currently editting.

Theres no problem with it, all the Armour techs ive played around with all work. Im just used to ATP armour which does not allow any damage to sub systems versus Fed Ablative Armour like in KM that seems to offer more limited protection compaired to ATP armour.
Example with ATP Armour: ship gets hit, armour takes damage, but no other systems are damaged until armour is destroyed.
Example with Fed Ablative Armour: ship gets hit, armour takes damage and after armour takes 20-30 percent damage, sub systems can sustain damage.
Ive been playin arourd with this armour as you can have more then one armour system, ie, Fwd Armour, Aft Armour, Port armour, star armour, ect just like stock ships in KM, i just wanted to know the peticulars of how Fed Armour works, like how much armour offers protection and when sub systems will begin to be affected.

the FTech versions of the Ablative Armour also don't allow damage, and since there is damage here it's likely you either doesn't have the techs or they are configured wrongly...

No, i know that its workin, it works just like that on my KM ships, and i have the tech, what i mean is on my ships, i have Fwd, aft, port, and star armour plating, and i noticed that some subsysytems not within the sphere of the armours protection can be damaged while other sub systems within are protected, i can see that it has to work like that now in order for damage to occure when say, the port armour system is destroyed and systems on the port side are vunrable. After playing around with the size of the Plates, in order to maximize coverage i found that the armour was more effective, at least untill one is destroyed, providing a gap in the armour. But im still curius how Fed Armour allows damage when sub systems are not within the armours coverage, versus ATP armour that does not have to extend over all the subsystems that you want to protect.

Ah, that explains your question.
With ATP (and similar with the FTech version) it deducts "points" and simply repairs everything while there are points left.

Thx Mleo, thats what i was wondering. I like Fed Armour over ATP armour as it seems more realistic and much more canon, especialy on that episode of DS9 when you hear Worf telling comander Sisco that the Port side Ablative Armour is losing Integrity, with a Vorcha at point blank range. I know it will be a pain to refit all my ships with Fed Armour, but since im on Unemployment, i got the time.
