Can anyone tell me how to add Starforce Ships into KM1.0, and how to install The ships into STBC all together?
-
BCUT
-
they install just like any other ship, use BCUT
-
reading the readme is you friend, hence "read-me"
-
I still use BCMP. BCUT is too L33t for simple Finn like me.
-
BCUT is better than BCMP it even comes with lots of docs for you to read... you could say it's noob proof.
BCUT also comes with fixes so you don't run into the same issues that BCMP has.
-
it even has a fixer if you run into those issues in BCMP ;)
it's really a whole lot easier
-
I bet it does.. but somehow, I just can't bring myself to trust into it. must be the cold color theme it has. BCMP has warm, comfy colors. :D
-
BCUT has multiple skins for it. you can change them in options.
-
I know, I checked them out. I'll try it out when I feel like getting BSOD and reinstalling BC+KM for the umpteenth time. :P :funny
-
-.- BSODs don't 99% of the time require a reinstall.
-
for me, it's usually faster than trying to figure out what is actually wrong. :P I'm a car mechanic, not a tech support super hero. ;)
-
usually BSODs are caused by typos or missing files... a simple console report would take seconds.
but I think we hijacked this thread long enough lol
yeah back to the topic...
Installing ships are all the same unless they require another mod... that should be listed in the read-me
the best program to use to install ships is the BCUT
-
if only I'd understand what those reports say.. :( oh well, now I know whom I should harass when the next BSOD appears.. last one was triggered by Kelvin Fleet pack.. don't ask me why. I deleted everything related to it from the install, still a BSOD.. did a reinstall instead. far more simpler than digging around files to find what is missing, misplaced etc.. I'm lazy like that. :D :P
Also, one shouldn't underestimate stupidity of modding noobs..
-
if uninstalling the suspect file didn't help than most likely it's not the culprit, usually reports tell you exactly what's wrong, if you have a BSOD you can't understand, feel free to post it here, that's what the tech support thread is there for.
You said you're a mechanic, so I'm going to use that as a metaphor, if you've got a car that doesn't work, do you buy a new car, or try and figure out what's wrong with this one?
-
roger and wilco. However, I still cannot understand why Kelvin Fleet triggered BSOD.. :wtf maybe it was just too awesome.. or perhaps I shouldn't had used BCMP to install it.. :P
-
ok, try posting the console report, maybe we can figure it out for you.
-
perhaps I shouldn't had used BCMP to install it.. :P
Bingo
-
ok, try posting the console report, maybe we can figure it out for you.
I shall do that when I try to install it again, especially if it gives the BSOD..
-
perhaps I shouldn't had used BCMP to install it.. :P
Why on earth did you use BCMP to install ships from Kelvin fleet ??? most if not every ship mod nowadays have pre-made plugin that enables ship in game (back in 2002-2006 you had to manualy create one with BCMP) so there is no point in 'installing' ships via BCMP or BCUT which were released from 2006 to 2009...
-
I was not aware of this, and there was no mention of such in the readme.
-
Maybe that's because it became obvious since at least 2007 (tho there are indeed 'some' mods released in last 3 years that don't have these plugins) every modder pre-makes them to spare people all that adding stuffand make life easier ;)
well at least I always state in my readme's : 'all you have to do is to unpack all files to main BC folder, all plugins has been done blah blah blah etc. you don't have to add it manualy :)
-
You say your a car mechanic, imagine you have a problem with a car, it doesnt start, you dont simply scrap it, even though it maybe something simple as a starter motor is knacked....
Errors in bc are as simple as that, with a console report your problems can be fixed in minutes ;)

I actually did get rid of my car due to the fact that it created a new problem after i got previous one fixed, but it was mere a Ford from early 80's so nothing valuable was lost. :D When I run into BSoD next time, I'll admit my defeat and throw the console report to the technical section.
I'd better get 24/7 service then, since you guys are so adamant that console log will reveal everything.. ;)
