The normal 2 disc DVD, or the normal 3 disc Blu-ray, or the Blu-ray with metal Enterprise with the interactive holographics extras, or with an autographed poster of Uhura, or the steelbook packaging, or the Blu-ray with the four badge pins, or the model Enterprise with the discs in the saucer?
I think im going to get the DVD version with the model Enterprise. Sure the closest Target is an hour away but, it will be worth it.

Specifics on where to get what where here. http://trekmovie.com/2009/11/05/full-list-of-star-trek-2009-home-video-retailer-exclusives/
Also here is a preview video for the vessel simulator thats on the Blu-ray(lucky b@$tards lol). http://trekmovie.com/2009/11/06/preview-vessel-simulator/ It only has the Enterprise and the Narada included it would seem.

I am liking the "four badge" or the "disc in the saucer", but since I don't have a blu-ray player I may just get the DVD and wait on the blu-ray.
-
Most likely just the bluray. I don't need the extra stuff.
-
I'm getting a PS3 for Christmas, so Blu-Ray, I'll probably rent the DVD before hand.
-
must be the only one getting the conventional DVD version. i know it sounds Vanilla, but I barely got enough for the DVD...everybdoyy keeps borrowing my money :P
-
I only knew about the 1 disc DVD, the 2 disc DVD and the 3 disc Blu-Ray (getting that one :) ).
I had no idea there were versions with Starfleet badges, model ships or autographed posters (Zoe Saldana is hawt).
The one I'm getting, the Blu-Ray, comes with the prequel comic. Not much to be excited over mind you though. I hear the comic sucks.
-
ill prolly get the 2-disc version... (no blu ray player here)
even if im not much a fan of this reboot, i still gotta have it in my collection anyway lol
edit - does anyone know offhand the difference between the 1 disc version and the 2 disc version?

more special features
-
I think all the 1 disc DVD has as far as special features go is the audio commentary, but I may be wrong about that.
I'm getting the Blu-Ray version with the 4 pins. I'm still surprised that they made a "medical" one since we have never seen that. Heck, I don't even remember seeing the "medical" insignia even in TOS.
And yeah, the Vessel Simulator on the Blu-Ray has only the Enterprise and the Narada. Which is fine, I really only want a closer look at the Big E anyways.
-
Blue ray, since my sony vaio has that feature :) i already have it on my computer from ..other..means.. not bad quality either, but This is a film i'll fork out for.
-
I dont have blu-ray, but I would really like the Model with the disks in the saucer.
-
Amazon.co.uk just broke the law, lol. :funny
Somehow got my Blu-Ray 2 days early.
Bad amazon.co.uk! Go sit in the corner!
EDIT: hmph! Only 4 of the trailers are included. Would've prefered all of them.
-
Well the blu-ray version just turned up for me. It came with the entire comic prequel and I swear it said 3 discs. :P
-
I just finished watching the film on my PC, via the 'digital copy' option on the DVD that comes in the 3-disc Blu-Ray set. I don't have a Blu-Ray computer drive, just a standalone Blu-Ray player (Sony BDP-S300, no BD Live :'( ) conneccted via HDMI to my HDTV. Anyway, digital copy, in higher pitch setting in Quicktime just 'because I can, lol'. Minus, the voice work, it actually sounds better like this, lol. :funny
-
Mine apparently shipped yesterday, so hopefully I'll get it by the 17th.
Billz, didn't I give you a link with all the trailers anyways? :P So the digital copy is on an actual DVD? That's good.

The digital copy is basically a weblink, supported by Paramount, were you can download a copy of the film in either a Windows Media Player format or through iTunes in Quicktime. When doing so, it allows the film to only play on your computer and no-one elses. A code in the Blu-Ray pack lets you download the film for free from either iTunes or Paramount.
Its a waste of a DVD disc to be perfectly honest since its just a weblink.
And yes, thanks for the download links for the trailers, but I was hoping that the trailers would all be on the Blu-Ray so that I didn't have to keep them on my PC.
lol, convenience :P

There is also the 'limited edition' USB stick version...
Looks kinda nifty actually... I might get it out of pure fandom...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Star-Trek-Movie-4GB-Stick/dp/B002U0KAR6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1258413120&sr=8-1-fkmr1
As for me, I have the 2 Disk box... Great outer artwork, inside is a bit... Meh, looks almost like it's a pirated copy... The deleted scenes though... Shouldn't of been deleted.

I have to admit, that looks pretty damn cool!
Wouldn't do much to prevent movie piracy though, lol. :funny

Tomorrow morning, I'm planning on buying the 2-disk special edition DVD with the plastic USS Enterprise DVD holder. Target is only a few miles away and is on my route to school.
-
well, I'm out. someone kifed the rest of my money for gas.

Its too bad you aren't getting the Blu-Ray version. I have a feeling that you would have found the Starfleet Vessel Simulator to be very good *HINT*, lol.
Would've liked some more vessel simulations for the Jellyfish or the other Starfleet vessels that went to Vulcan when Nero was there though on the Blu-Ray :'(.

Since I do not have a Blu-Ray player, someone on HobbyTalk posted a download with LOTS of screencaps from the StarFleet Vessel Simulator. See download link:

When I went to Target this morning, they had only 2 of these in stock (or only 2 where I found them). It is the 2-disk Special Edition DVD and instead of a DVD box, it is just the ship with a stand, basically a desktop model that you construct yourself. The 2 disks fit nicely inside the saucer, one on top, one on the bottom.
The plastic ship that I have in front of me is well worth the money and it is fairly accurate in details, possible more accurate than the Playmates toy. It is the same size as the Polar Lights 1:1000 TOS Enterprise kit. Since the JJprise is considerably bigger, it would now make the ship 1:2500.
-
Wiley, I have a feeling that even the small-scale Hot Wheels JJ-Prise is going to be more accurate than the Playmates one.
I wish I could get the model with the DVDs, but I already have the Blu-Ray coming. Sure wish Best Buy had shipped faster though...
-
2 Disk standard DVD.
480p is good enough res for me.
-
my brothers wife rented it on netflix they liked it alot and i got to see it a for a first time on the 73" i have in the living room hehehehe
-
...I'm getting it for Christmas, lol.
-
I'm not going to buy it; the film was horrible.
-
i wasnt all that fond of the movie either, but ill purchase it away to have in the collection... likely wont be watching it much tho lol
-
I'm getting it for Christmas with my PS3
-
arg I'm not sure which blueray one to get... I'm kinda leaning towards the metal enterprise though... thoughts?
-
well, I finally got to pick mine up. i had to gripe at my own parents to get my borrowed money back!
Nebula: I suggest you get the Blu-Ray. the DVD versions are now bare naked; nothing but the movie itself, now.
-
yeah I already stated I was getting a blu-ray disk... I just don't know what one....
-

You should consider getting the one with the metal Enterprise model if you can.
The artwork on the metal case you described earlier is just one of the movie posters without writing over it.
Otherwise, if you can't get the version with the model, get the standard 3 disc Blu-Ray. Comes in a slip cover with Kirk and Spock in the title artwork on either side.
-
The metal Enterprise model looks nice and all, but I'll wait for QMx's collector's edition of the ship.
-
bought it. watched it. loved it even more.
-
I got my blu ray copy through the post last week and have watched three times straight through.
The original reason I decided to get it was to have a complete collection however the film has really grown on me.
-
Bought the DVD for my sisters.
-
*thread cleaned and reset*
im going to purchase the movie later this afternoon...

I decided to officially boycott this movie. It was fun to see... once. My collection doesn't need it. HOWEVER, the day Star Trek came out on DVD/BR, a strange charge for $20 from Best Buy appeared on my online bank statement. My wife now claims to have a Christmas present for me, even though we decided to spend it all on our son this year. EVIL WOMAN!

So you're "officially" boycotting it? Are you an official of some sort? :P Seriously though, she's evil because she's trying to do something thoughtful? Really?
-
I hope your kidding. really. Boycotting..first of all this was a fantastic film. Second..Boycotting lol okay..like that will WORK..why am i even wasting my breath on this thread?
-
That last post was sort of tongue-in-cheek. Of course I appreciate a gift from my wife. As for boycotting, just in the sense that I would rather not spend my money on it. If given as a gift, that's cool, but I won't be buying it. I can't support the turn the franchise has taken, and I know my little $20-30 doesn't mean crap to Paramount, but I can sleep better. Now, if I can get my hands on ST: Remastered seasons... different story.
