I am defiantly not sure if I posted this in the right place. Consider this relevant or not, but this has helped me a great deal over the years. I am going to post my KM version that I use.
By In my 7 years of Bridge Commanding, and my years with playing KM religiously. I have developed, what I call the "Rifle's Starship Tree". I use it as a functionality reference whenever I forget what the heck I'm doing while in Multiplayer, or use it as a reference to adapt to situations in the server.
Tier 1 ----------------- Server Patrol and Rule Enforcement
Excalibur Class Negh'Var
Tier 2 ------Occasional duel ships, and requested duels
Sovereign Class Prometheus Class
Tier 3 -------- Primary ships I use for Duels and War servers, and RP
Galaxy Class Achilles Class
Tier 4 ---------- Auxiliary Ship Choices for Duels
Rhode Island Defiant Class
Tier 5 -------- Turkey Shoot Fun ships, and requested Duels, and RP
Steamrunner Class Sabre Class
Akira Class Norway Class
Vorcha Class Warbird
Tier 6 --------- RP ships, requested Duels, or TMP Only Servers/Duels
Constitution Class Bird of Prey
Excelsior Class K'tinga
Praetor Miradorn
Griffin Lakota ( Only use Photons )
As you can see, I have kind of developed this well. I am not sure if it would be helpful with you guys. But for me, it is an invaluable system.

Why is the Lakoa in Tier 6? Back when I played MP I could take down a Sov in one. It was my flagship and I always flew Lakota.

I am not much of a fan of the Lakota herself in KM. Yes she was fast, agile, and hey weapons backed a punch. I just didn't like her for some reason. The Galaxy was my Flagship. I flew her in the good ol' days, and still flying her today. She rarely fails me.

:evil So how's that nice and sensitive sensor array and shield generator working out for you?

If you utilize the Galaxy's mass, and the 360 degree phaser coverage, that isn't a problem. The Galaxy's mass, if used correctly, can be used to help turn the ship quickly. I have grown used to quick response times with the Galaxy by cutting the engines down to 0% after a full speed turn. Also by using the Q and E keys to rotate the ship as you turn makes the ship slide upward, I use this as a torpedo dodging move. Works every time.
The Phaser coverage on the Galaxy excellent for rotations. As you rotate to minimize damage on one shield area by spreading the damage out, I can utilize that defensive strategy to an offensive strategy by bringing the coverage of phasers to bear. You should learn the Galaxy. IF you can use her properly, the weak points wont be a problem to cover.

Honestly I wish it wasn't so weak in multiplayer, I always wondered why the QB Galaxy is much tougher than the multiplayer, I thought all the ships used the same strenghts

uh they do... there are no sep HP files between QB and MP....

It's not weak, the enemies are just better. :evil

A starship is just as good as it's captain and crew.. ;)
