Title: little problem
Post by: baz1701 on August 06, 2010, 08:06:04 PM
I seem to have picked up a trojan on my PC which now appears to be healed and gone. Antispybrain.

The only thing I still cannot sort out is my homepage.

IE works fine accept if I try to reset my hompage to www.google.co.uk or www.Google.com

I get the screen below.

I can access Yahoo, Aol and non-direct google websites.

I have managed to set my homepage to http://www.google.co.uk/webhp?hl=en which is working but something is still wrong

Any ideas. All my security found the trojan and killed it but this is still left behind?

There must be some parts of it still left, some services or registry entries and files. Google for manual removal instructions, I never trust AV software to completely remove something from the system.

Baz, download & install Malwarebytes' Anti-malware.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

It's an outstanding program that I feel will get you back to where you want to be

good, I hate it when something is amiss with my system, it seems I am not the only one.

Same here. It's a horrible feeling when you realise something isn't right and even worse if you try to fix it but get it wrong.
But on the flip side of that coin it's awesome when you fix it and start using as normal :)

Things like hard drives going uberslow/locking when in their death throes is NOT good for the os!! this I know :P
