Looks almost the same as my Post Nemesis Enterprise v.2 ... especially that registry area which was darkened just a bit.
If I were you, I would go a little furthere than changing brightness/contrast values only... see if you can draw all new armor or different hull patterns, difficult but way better.
This was already done under several names, MeteorFallen started it with Sentinel, Cpt. Russel continued with his War Sovereign refit, I followed them adding even more black armor stuff then Vortex modified it even more in his Post Nem pack... try something new, you're on a good track, just add something different than high contrast black ;)

Bones, you forgot my rework of CR's work thats somewhere on my hd!
Starkiller, my suggestion is that you take a ship by CR or some other person with a free usage policy and graffiti it with armor, escape pods, windows, new registrys like you have done, and how about a complete retext, just look at the Sobekei, you know that sovereign connie bash up... Yea that was made of one of Wiked Zombies ships and the Tibourn's nacelles (All of that was made for a TMP era ship). After that it was remade into the best connie refit on BC Files made by my good friend bones here, so just try a complete rework... Most people dont like a simple reregistry, they like unique ways to play so with that.......
Pugh out!
EDIT: Bones you have a PM!

Answered ;)
yeah new paint can work miracless :) that was said by Wicked Zombie when he first saw what I did to his Sorcerer (now Krakow class) and Doohan (now Sobieski calss) class ships (both Lost era/ X-era TMP ships, turned to late TNGs)
there are some really cool ways to make a truly unique Sovereign retextures, rather than recoloring bits without changing them ;)
I have started one at the beginning of the STO project but never had time to finish it.
I'm giving you an example of what kind of armor you could use in your retexture, it's my STO version of Sovereign, never finished tho...

Nice Armouring, although she looks its been rebuild from scrap metal(or duranium)
-
All ships are made of reused metals... Even now metal from the World Trade Center was used to build the USS New York.
It would be the right thinking to believe that the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-B used some metal that was used on the USS Enterprise NCC-1701-A/ USS Yorktown NCC-1717-A
PS- Bones, what tools do you use to make those plates?
-
It was said that parts of the D were used in the construction of the New one. I am fairly certain that was an on-screan mention. I could be thinking of a book but fairly certain it was said in one of the films.
-
That was in the book 'Ship of the Line' which is about the initial launch of the E
-
Well, :funny yeah it kinda look like scrap but, you could make something different yet new and unique, I might have gone too far in distinctiveness of this armor but surely there are some cool patterns out there.
I'm using my old Paint shop Pro 8, point-to-point vector draving, then some inner/outer beveling and some noise + custom made texture patterns thrown onto it ;)
Dunno if you'll find it inspiring in any way but here's what I was secretly (not any more secretly :P ) working on recently, Mnemosyne class, now look at the original WZ's texture and a new one I'm drawing, see the panelling ? new paintjob and whole ship looks so much refreshed don't you think ?
-
*starts taking notes* this is the kind of Idea i need for the Jean D'Arc reskin in the catch pack.
-
Yeah, that is a nice refresh. I think this is a great line to be going down. There's a long history of good BC ships that are outdated now but would be fabulous if redone. Reskinning them is one way to do it. I think completely remaking them is another alternative. I've got the Eximius on the backburner right now but that's the kind of thing I'm talking about... really popular ships from way back when that would be well done by now.
-
maybe some day I'll learn to model like you do :) (at least it's my small humble wish :) ) yeah Eximius was one of my fav ships back in 2007-08
-

the montana, fanboyish as it is, is another. No permission to reskin but I always had the hope that whole fleet of 5 that went with her could be redone and each given their own unique weapons pods and nacelles rather than cookie cutter. Thing had like 4jk in dl's. The deemon class was another.
edit:Well, after looking I think I musta deleted those bashes. I didn't want them and was sorting my files, must have deleted already so I'll delete that part of the post (refering to the second half of this post was offering a few bashes I had for ya)
Edit: I do have some original low poly models that need reskinning, they're unique but old, very out dated, if anyone wants them, by mindblip and intermech from SFC, including an Aegean, if you've ever wanted to do one of those.

I agree with Bones, this scheme has been through it's paces. And after the Sentinel and Archangel refreshes, I am moving on from it. To what I don't know, but that's the exciting part!
BTW Bones, that dish Is killer, I actually did something similar to it a while back and also decided not to use it lol.
Also Starkiller, I would suggest throwing some color in to the scheme. Make it stand out! :D
-
maybe put some blue instead of black? i mean...klingon ships are green, romulan ships are green too, cardassian ships are dark gold/brown. why not put some blue in fed ships?
-
yeah but you would have to make it a really pale navy blue because vivid colors look cheap, slightly lighter version of navy blue we can see here on BCC would suit perfectly + some custom made armor would be awesome :)

I used this dish on both Krakow and Sobieski, funny thing I was inspired by Iron Man suit arc generator :P

Yea, back on topic... Starkiller, the easiest way to add a blue color is just to select the area you want to recolor, then in photoshop go to the Hue and Saturation tool, Max the Saturation temporarily, then find a good dark blue, then lower the saturation to the mid point, and lower the brightness.
Also, I'm still learning how to draw in Photoshop, and have been learning for a year. I make aztecing with filters and armor with other filters. If you can draw than you are great but just practice, its worth it!

That was never mentioned in any of the movies. :]
Great retextures, bones. :yay:

actually i just use Ctrl+B (Color Balance) and put it blue, than i just configure the Brightness and Contrast, but good idea anyway.

The problem with that is if a area of the ship is red it turns purple, believe me i used to uses that same technique.

May be better ways of doing it, but one way you can avoid that is using raster layers.
In PSP9, I will add a raster layer, then select the background layer and clone only the sections I want to edit on that raster layer. That way you can change hue, color, transparency or anything just on that selected layer. Repeat the same thing on other layers for different parts as many as you want, and it won't effect the base picture. then when your done, merge it all together. Works great on any project, not just re-textures.
-
or you just desaturate it completely, make it black and white, and use color balance to create your own scheme. via masks you can manually paint out all the areas you want changed.
-
Thats true, i might try that later with a retexture, and i need t start hand drawing by now, i should be able to do it.
Hey Bones, i might do a retext of the Minotaur!
