I just thought I'd leave this here for anyone around who still mods their copy of skyrim.
Note, that the limit mentioned in this vid by goper is not the 32bit limit. This 3.1gb limit is in force after the exe has been made large address aware, probably down to lazy coding on bethesdas part. Oh, and it's not likely to be fixed either.
What happens when you hit this limit? Your game crashes.
-
My install is lightly modded so it's rather unlikely I'll hit the limit any time soon.
But still, it's not good news.

It's also unlikely there will be a code fix project for skyrim, like there was for morrowind :(

well that explains alot

UPDATE!
[ Invalid YouTube link ]
It would seem that a mod to sidestep the 3.1GB limit has been created.
Groovy :)

I've been reading up on ESO and getting back into Skyrim this past week. I do rather wish I had it on PC rather than Xbox, because the mods make it look fantastic.

Oooo BUMP
I haven't modded the game, but it's pumped up with mods.
But I tell you one thing, the Elder Scrolls Online is WAY BETTER. lol :D I'm so glad I got a chance to try out that sucker. :yay:

A little update on the whole skyrim memory issue. There's *another* fix for it that works brilliantly when used in tandem with ENBoost. It fixes pretty much every memory crash in Skyrim (Aka the root issue of nearly all crashes/hangs/infinite load screens in Skyrim).

Curse you, though not to much, because I'd forgot about that game. xD

Gopher has put together a great video explaining the latest memory patch for skyrim. The vid is a lot longer than usual, but he goes into some depth explaining what the patch does and shows some of his tests demonstrating just how it affects the game.

Not been my experience AT ALL actually. Every 5 minutes or so, the game does a 100% "Freeze", where I can't move my character, can't type, can't access the UI windows, nothing. Then after a few seconds, it resumes like it should. This is not an isolated incident, others in chat reported having similar issues. As a result, my experience was "less than optimal" as you could imagine. With the game slated for launch in less than 2 months, i'd consider it a rather severe bug that needs fixing ASAP.
As for your statement to "WAY BETTER", i'd like your opinion on just what is actually -better- in Elder Scrolls Online compared to Skyrim? Besides being able to play with other people.
-
2 hour queue to get in xD
-
Ouch. Took me just over an hour to get in. Played for about 30 minutes before the "freeze every 5 minutes" became unbearable.
-
I leveled up 6 times over the weekend. Man, what a grind! I'm going to miss that character when they do their inevitable pre launch server wipe.
I certainly won't be paying what they ask for the game. Though if it were just the upfront charge for the game but with no sub, or only a ?10 a month sub but free to DL, then I might consider it. Right now as it stands, it is priced way over the odds.
I really wish they'd put more opportunities to gather raw materials in the game though. I wanted to craft a bow for myself, but couldn't for want of...wood.
