Title: My First WIP
Post by: mckinneyc on September 16, 2013, 06:17:36 AM
Thanks to Phoenix I was finally talked into taking the plunge into modelling. Trying to teach myself the basics of MAX. Here is what I have so far:

Hints and tips are very much welcome as I am still a little overwhelmed by it all

if you're doing a direct dade, they have some very annoying built in rings on the nacelles, e-hull and neck.  what were you planning to do with it?

well, how about a tweak idea?

mabey make this a TOS style refit.  you've already got a TOS bridge dome on it, and the new pylons look plenty TOS style.

He probably doesn't have his render settings set up correctly, or at all.

Either way, good work and TOS is the way to go when learning 3D.

I'd suggest Connie 2 nacelles (the first pilot model without the bussard spears or the balls on the end).  getting the plasma vent cove and mabey the pipes is gonna be a challenge, but we got plenty of people here that can help with that.

were you thinking ahead to the impulse deck, yet?  the original dade tacked them on the back end of the nacelles.

Thanks Wiley, and how should I set the render settings up?

It's always nice to see someone take their baby steps in Max  :D

(and that's coming from someone who wouldn't even dream of doing ships!)
