well, I just realized that, I should've had the ship backlit too. I mean, look at the amount of light coming from from the colliding bodies. There should be some massive light coming out from that point, and a lens flare.

I think I'll rework that image, and see what I can do.

one thing you should try is to adjust the lighting of the models to match the backdrops
here's one example, as you can see he is lit from above and behind just like the photo, and the light source is the same color as the light in the photo

note, he is also lit by the lights on his rifle
