I'm not really a fan of comedy centric stuff.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

The Orville is hardly "comedy centric" thou. The early promos were very misleading, by focusing solely on the comedic elements of the show, which as of last episode (Episode 4) are a lot less numerous than they were in the pilot episode. Past 2 episodes have been very... "Trek-like" with Episode 4 bearing some similarity to the TOS episode 'For the World is Hollow and I have Touched the Sky'.

Sure, the show still uses comedy and current-day "gags" on occasion, but there is considerable seriousness to each episode as well, handled in a far more believable way than most instances of Trek. All and all, an enjoyable show so far. And if anyone doubts Seth MacFarlane's ability to be "dramatic", needs to watch especially Episodes 3 and 4.

The Orville is neither a Comedy or Drama series. It's a "Dramedy" more in line with shows like M*A*S*H and Stargate, and a far cry from Seth's other comedic works like Family Guy or American Dad.

It's not gonna happen. Orville is not some "fan film" that CBS/Paramount can bully into submission. FOX has an army of lawyers to back them up. Beyond that, Orville is not Star Trek, no matter how many similarities it might have.

Nebula i thought the same but watched it any way and it is cool! its not comedy every word and while it may poke fun its still giving me a serious note.
please check it out if you hate it so be it but i think its good enough that you wont.

I've been following The Orville on Amazon.com :D

Yeah, it is a comedy, but I think they have found a balance. The episodes keep getting better and better. Even the crew interactions are more believable than STD. :vb_shakehead:

As of now, compared to what STD has delivered, Orville in my opinion has the true spirit of Trek. Rumor has it, most of the Trek veterans are not happy with CBS dis-guarding 50 years of Trek canon. Basically, dismissing their work.

Look for some big names to show up on the Orville.

Agreed I watchef st discovery last night... then watched the orville... im loving the later much more. The oneliners balence the serious nature of the material which is basicallt how I think trek should have stayed.
The Orville is the trek I wanted the new trek to be.

Well im really loving the show.

we got some orville techno-babble  :dance :yay:  :Metal:

so the onscreen statement says:

Spoiler: show
the orvile quantum drive is capable of 10ly/hour which according to a calculator online says that at TOS warp speeds its equivalent of warp 20.6145 or at TNG warp scale its 9.422215

of course my calculations could be wrong.

the orvile was also called a:

Spoiler: show
mid level explorer ship which means its in the realms of an Ambassador Class

Just watched the last episode, definitely has a Star Trek feel to it and they seem to be better every week.
