Maelstrom Mod opening missions playthrough

Credit due to vonfrank’s recent modded playthrough videos for inspiring this  :thumbsup:

As an historical record for our BC community, and anyone who never tested the single-player campaign Maelstrom Mod, this is a video of the opening missions from the mod in realtime which gives an idea of how it played and looked.  The actual game runs in 4:3 (I never liked the ‘stretched’ bridge look in widescreen)  but for purposes of this vid I’ve uploaded in cropped 720p.  I guess anyone who’s played BC knows what the interface menus look like anyway  :D

Also, all the textures in these videos are maximum 1048.   Many of the models have higher resolutions (2048) but the difference in gameplay is marginal except in high-res screenshots.

Hope you all enjoy.  I don’t think I have the time or patience to record the entire modded game, but I’m happy to record any specific missions on request/popularity when I get a spare moment.

Very nice! As I'm sure you've seen, I had done very little modding to the interior sets of the game for my playthrough and focused primarily on exterior visuals. It was nice to see the changes made made to the bridges and characters for your Malestrom mod. It certainly updates the dated graphics of the stock game.

Is the entire story complete and playable with the mod?

In theory, yes.  You can start the game and play through to the end, but we never cracked the 'save progress' function.  I think there may also be some random crashes which are probably fixable, or may just be partly down to some of the inherent age issues (memory leaks, etc).

In test mode you can also dive into individual mission.

So just as the counterpoint to initial Dauntless/Galaxy missions,  here is Episode 3 campaign mission when you switch to Sovereign class for rest of game.  Good demonstration of Jimmy's hardpoint rebalancing (Sovereign vs Akira and BoPs!) and bridge damage effects.

I also did a JJ-Enterprise bridge many moons ago...not very canon though so never released.

Considering the advanced you made, in viewscreen mesh shapes. The JJ-Enterprise set should be very doable now. I still have your viewscreen workaround for the Delta Flyer set.

Sorry for the necro, but do you have a list of all the ships you used and their download links? I think you're using Lints B'rel, K'vort and Vor'cha but I can't find them anywhere.
