New Resolution Presets
« on: November 22, 2018, 01:54:30 PM »
BC's stock resolution presets of 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, and 1600x1200 are quite dated. With the exception of 1280x1024, practically no programs use those resolutions these days.

There have been tutorials out there for how to modify BC to run at widescreen and at any resolution you want for years now. Using those, BC runs at 1920x1080 on my install perfectly, but swapping resolutions requires extensive modification of numerous game files in order to do so.

What I would like to do is change BC's 5 stock resolution presets to reflect more common resolutions for modern PC gaming. 1280x720, 1366x768, 1440x1080, 1920x1080, and 3840x2160 would probably be ideal.

Has anyone had experience with this? Anyone ever tried to do so? I plan to give it a shot as soon as I get the chance (stupid work always getting in the way  :P ) but I'm not sure where to start.

Any input would be appreciated, and I'll post updates as I work on this.

KM has widescreen mode.  It isn't perfect, it is a little bit stretched out - but so far, Defiant is the only one that has been able to do such resolutions for BC and is only available in a KM-based install.

You have to mod just two files:
WeaponsDisplay.py in scripts/tactical/interface
and LCARS_640.py inscripts/Icons

Delete the pyc files afterwards.
I managed to add 32:9 resolution with the correct ratio
from outside. Now the Bridgeview is still stretched and need
some work too.

Of course backup your files before trying.

i had thought it would be much more complicated than that...  :)
ill have to try a few high ones, i never have been able to get mine above 1920x1080 without things getting all messed up...
