Love the ship, guys. . .

. . .but I'm not quite so in love with the 2048 pixel texture because they send my frame rate on my oldie to hell. I've tried to reduce them to 1024 pixels, but while they're still of good quality and permit smoother play, the spec maps no longer function.

I'm probably asking a question answered a while ago, but is there a way to get the spec maps working for the smaller textures using basic software?

The specular maps, if memory serves me right, are just grayscale tga files. You ought to be able to resize them the same way.

What software are you using?

Corel Photo Album 6. . .I figured that there was no need to use Paint Shop just to downsize textures. Which brings up another point; this mod doesn't seem to have accessible greyscale tgas. I'd have tried resizing them if I found them, however, when I tried to downsize all the 2048 maps for the SNS Galaxy, it too had specular issues. The only way I've found to resolve that was to dump the High resolution folder and replace it with the Medium.

I'm unaware of such issues.

The ship just as 4 specular textures (with the file name ending of _specular). So you should be able to just resize them.

I made an oversight on the greyscale maps. Nonetheless, I'm still not getting speculars. This is quite strange. . .

Yeah are you sure its not Nano FX's fault??
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

I'm not sure, Nebula, but I will give a run with it off a go. I don't recall having this problem in an install I had a little over a year ago, though whether I had NanoFX eludes me. Still, MLeo's right as far as I know; a simple resize shouldn't be doing this. Hell, the speculars in the pack have only a fourth of the pixels of the maps they regulate illumination for, so I don't even think their size is a relevant factor.

Edit: That's not it, either. So it's likely something I'm doing. . .or not doing. I just can't fathom what it is at the moment.

An eon later, I've determined that it's Photo Album's fault. Not sure why, but I bought a license for PSP and tried again. Everything's in order now. . .
