EXH/D-01 Legacy, Game version
« on: October 26, 2007, 12:00:21 AM »
I bring you the Federation Heavy Explorer (Diplomatic) Legacy Class WIP.

As i mentioned in the other thread I have no idea how to put ships in to the game, so when this is finished up I will need assistance, right now I'm getting the main shapes sorted out before i optimize the hull, then details then uvmaps, I might need assistance with the textures too.

any way its getting there slowly

A few tips regarding BC modelling:

For a ship like this, you can easily set the polygon limit to around 10-14k. The CG Sovereign is around 13k, and there have been ships released with more then that. Of course, part of the limit of how many ships you can have at the same time is due to the polygon count, another part is the texture sizes.

I think the general concensus is that the saucer textures are 2048x2048 (I think DJ Curtis's Enterprise-F has 4096x4096 saucer textures), and that other parts of the ship use 1024x1024 textures.

Would love to see this ship ingame :D

cheers dude, right now its sitting round 6k without the engineering hull and underside of the saucer, theres still a lot of optimizing to go and i think a lot of the details will be in the textures.

is there any chance someone could show me a wire frame of that sovereign?

the main hull is almost finished, need to optimize the top of the saucer before i start to cutout the windows up there

I can assist you with putting it ingame as well as getting it released for SFC if you'd like.
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

I thought its probably better that I made it since i also co-designed the ship.

I hope it will get in game ok. theres a few things i would want to do with it but i wouldnt know where to start, things like having the captains yacht playable of the ship and the different types of torpedos

Hey, Kaden!  Long time no see.  Nice new avatar.  Spike from Cowboy Bebop, correct?

Anyway, I am liking that lip on the neck!  Very slick design.

Woohoo!  I remember the CG version of this ship, and I'm glad it's finally coming to BC!  As I recall, I was one of those advocating it being in BC. lol  Great work so far Kaden.

And a Spike Spiegel fan as well...I knew there was something I liked about this guy.

I don't have enough time to keep working on this so feel free to finish it off (needs uvs and textures) or rebuild it better for the game

over the last week iv been working on finishing the modelling, i don't think its too great though. in the zip there is the lightwave .lwo version and a .3ds version, hopefully max can open that for all you maxers.

if someone does want to finish it and put it in game post here or email me and let me know
