Whoa...I go away for a few days, and look what happens.  The Mithra gets a makeover that'd make the Enterprise-E jealous.  I love the new nacelles!

Quick little update for you all before I go to bed. Not too much more done... just finalised the nacelles (for now) and their pylons and started integrating them into the mesh. I also threw together some phaser arrays, though they admittantly don't look that great and could use some tuning... *nudges Lint* And yes, they're currently separate from the rest of the mesh...

Oh, and I re-scaled the bridge module. It looks much, much better now. Enjoy the pic. :)

Since you gave me a cookie, Its only fair that I return the favor. I was also not a fan when this ship was started, but it has grown on me.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Thank you for all the support and cookies everyone!

Upon common suggestion, and Lint's constant espression of dissappointment in my lack of "bevel tool" use , I finally jumped into Max and used it. Perhaps... I went a tad overboard? Especially considering the poly count jumped from 6k to 9k.  :? Lol. Well, anyways, I wanted to give the Mithra a 'heavily armored' look. I think I acomplished this rather profusely. Lol. Though only the top armor is done; The bottom armor and secondary hull armor needs to be done as well. Once that's all done, we'll see where the poly count is at... :/

Anyways, this is just a demo; I've saved another copy of the mithra without any beveling at all, so i have a backup, just in case this isn't so popular, or the poly count is simply too high... as I'd LIKE to limit myself to 10k.

Anyways, here's a pic... Enjoy.

omg, i just saw your last 2 updates. :geek:
she's beautiful!!
lie your last one with bevel(ing) the most, looks really cool!
if I may ask: what's your polycount right now? (with and without beveling?)

Without, roughly 7k.
With, roughly 10k.

Depends, though... I'm in the midst of cleaning it all up. I think I can lower the poly count a bit...

IMO 10k polys is really "low poly" for such a nice model!
even if it would rise up to 15-20k it would be nice gaming on low end machines like myone^^
So I think it already is even very effective use of polys.
So low poly is used as a compliment, not as an offense :P ;)

Well, thank you!  :) I do take it as a compliment, as I've been aiming to keep this as low-poly as I can. :) I'm going to give myself another half hour to work on this before i go to bed... it's so darn late, and i haven't peeled my eyes away from this... Lol.

Time for another MAJOR update!!!

I've been working almost non-stop for the past couple days trying to get as much done as I can, and I must say that I've come a very long way in such a short space of time *beams proudly*.  :D At this point, the Mithra just needs some opimizing, a couple little tweaks here and there, and I think she'll be ready for textures! Just so you all know, I'll be working with Wiley on the textures, as he's very kindly offered his assistance with this, as my 2d skills are rather... questionable. Lol. Also, please keep in mind that this one is only the NX variant, that being without any weapons or science pods. Personally I prefer it without pods...

OH! Before anyone asks, the Mithra is currently sitting at 18,838 polies. I may even be able to get that down a notch. We'll see.

The following list briefly explains what's been done:
Quote
-Rebuilt entire lower-aft hull.
-Built all Phaser Banks.
-Built a new Torpedo Turret inset into the hull above deflector.
-Added original six top-firing Topedo Bays.
-Added two small pulse phaser cannons, flanking the new turret.
-Added large sensor palettes on the bottom of the saucer.
-New Impulse Engiens.
-Added other little details, such as warp core & antimatter ejection ports.

Next is a list of the Mithra's current specs, as I figured them:

Quote
-10 phaser arrays total; 4 top, 6 bottom.
-16 Torpedo Bays total; 4 forward, 2 aft, 4 side (2 each side), 6 top.
-2 forward-firing high-power pulse phaser batteries.

Defensive Systems:
-Shields (duh)
-Heavy Ablative Armor (almost Klingon Style... :P)
-Deflector system (another duh)

Propulsion Systems:
-Warp Drive System enhanced for use in high-interference areas such as nebulae.
-Slipstream Drive.
-2 primary high-power Impulse Engines mounted on the aft section of the saucer.
-4 secondary medium-power Impulse Engines, mounded on the Nacelle Pylons.

Now, without further adeu, pics...

I love the new nacelles, the old ones looked like a clipping or modelling error on the flat fronts. All in all she looks stronger too, as if armoured.

excellent!
the first pic reminds me very much of DJ's Century, especially the deflector!
though, IMO the saucer-drivew connection is quite thin, if not too thin..
anyway, have a cookie!

The Beveling looks a tad to strong, IMO.  Plus the poly count has over doubled as a result.  I really like the way the 7k poly version looked, although I know most people are going to disagree with me on that.

Besides that only my opinion anyway, whats important is you make something your happy with.  You have real talent though, And you've definatly come a long way from your original mesh.

You definitely deserve more cookies than I can give.
