USS Acheron WIP (update 02/25/08)
« on: December 26, 2007, 03:12:01 PM »
while mapping the mustang and learning some lightmapping for the elysion,
I have worked the last few days on this ship.

I was inspired by various ships, like the achilles class, DJ's Century
and Vivace Class and some others :D.

The ship is in an early stage and I haven't done much on the bottom yet, so if you
have suggestions I would be very grateful if you post it here :D

Thats one well concieved little ship, looks excellent rengers!!  :D

Maybe the Nacelles could do with lengthening a bit they look a little out of proportion compared to the rest of the ship.

Other than it's great, superb work!!

that's really cool rengers.  top notch work here.  I can see the century class influence in the nacelles, I think.

Some c&c

Try making the deflector area pull towards the center a bit more, it will make it look more streamline.

One other thing I might do if I were building the ship is widen the nacelle stance.  Because they are short nacelles, and the ship has a wide body, I think it would look more stable if the nacelles were moved outwards about 50%.

I really like the humps n top of the saucer that run along the Y axis.

I've gotta say, the front end view of this ship looks great.

Great design there mate, i like where you have put the impulse engines, and i think the over all look of the ship is sleek and sexy.

Hmm, I like most of it alot but I must admit I don't like the Achilles style rear/pylons she has. Looks good though, love the saucer.

You know, I think it looks pretty cool, and there doesn't seem to be much need for improvement at all. It looks insanely fast, and that's really awesome. My only criticism might be, the nacelles seem a bit too short for such a fast looking ship.

I'm wondering what her intended role, and weapon's fit might consist of?

Yeah I think the nacelles need to be lengthened a little more. Perhaps add more length in front of the pylon, and more behind it? I'm thinking like 1:2 ratio. Whatever length you put in front, put twice as much behind and make the nacelles a little fatter.

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions :D

I have worked a bit on the nacelles, lenghten them a bit, make them a bit fatter,
and widen the nacelle stance a bit.

I'm wondering what her intended role, and weapon's fit might consist of?

The ship has 18 decks, about her intended role and her weapons potency I'm not to sure yet.
If you have suggestions, please feel free to post it here :D

she could fill the gap between the sovereign class and the excalibur class as a heavy attack cruiser.
I like the design of the pylons ;)
It's really a cool design

from my part, before throwing an opinion, I'll wait until you start the textures.
I was doing a similar design on the Zeus (hull with side-placed nacelles) but I dropped it because I saw it non-federation like. Federation ships have their signature on nacelles bent upwards.
but if you end with a decent texture for it, maybe it will do.

VERY nice job you've done here. Unique... though the only thing bothering me about it is the width of the aft section, where the shuttle bay is located. otherwise, she's beautiful Keep up the good work. :D
