Ukr Voyage home whale probe.
« on: January 29, 2008, 10:25:17 AM »
Ive decided to post my own Whale probe.

-I want to tweak the specular a little
-I need to fix a seam on the ball.
-I want to do a glow map, so the ball its full bright.
-I also need to do the animation textures for the ball to spin.

One thing im concerned about is the glow part of the probe. Ive used a few cylinders with varying levels of opacity, i think id rather use planes with an alpha channel opacity but im not sure if this is possible in BC - does anyone know at all?

I cant Hp and I dont plan to learn, so would anyone like to give it a go?
Pref someone who has released something before.

cheers

The only thing more scary is a dysons sphere, wondering why your in-system warp cancelled until hearing *boom*. ;)

Hey, you could probably use that engine overload mod to re-inact the probe's disabling abillities.

How can you make it to suck ALL power out of a starship, within a certain radius?

I'm not sure how it would work, but I think it would be better if it sucked like 97 percent of power rather then all of it, just for playability issues.

Great model! The sound of the probe for an eventual release could be added also!

I do and it's not the sound it made when it was moving but it is the whale call.

Yes! But to the beginning of the film one feels also while one moves! It only ends when the sphere re-enter!!

woot this Is the sound it made but there were also another sound... something like veeeeeerry slow vibration, dunno :d my old washing machine made similiar sound :P but this sound is also proper, I recall some borg cube had borg chatter as a weapon without projectile and effect, just for fun, you could add that sound to blank weapon without projectile or damage effects would be cool :D

You wouldn't need to make the sound a projectile, just simply make it the engine noise, since that essentially was the probe's engine sound. (Yes I realize the sound was from the sphere.)
