Sovereign Drydock
« on: February 07, 2008, 04:20:16 PM »
Hello all.  Cordanilus here from SBP07 and I've been asked by someone to make a video about the Enterprise E at the end of ST: Nemesis.  I'm missing something so I decided to start a new model for the planned video and I hope you like what you see so far. :D

I must go now but have a look at the pic.

Okay, I had some more time so I have more done. :D

Oh yeah, the poly count so far is 9194 polys and may reach the 10k mark but it shouldn't go any higher.

Wow, and you started this just because someone asked you to do a video?  Cool-ness

Yup. :D  That's how the first drydocks got started.  If no one has made it, and I want one...then I'll make one.  It's the reason I started to learn how to mod. He he.

@ Nighthawk
Scaling, sure thing.  I'm going to scale it to just a tad larger then the sovereign class but I haven't actually done mjor research into this. :D  I'm not following any blueprints or fan made schematics...just making it by the screencaps from nemesis.

Will continue it on tomorrow.  Hopefully the mesh will be done by then and onto other things after. :D

precisely.
I mean the scaling of the parts to each other and to the ship.
sort of saying "pylons are 1/4 of a Sovereing nacelle width"

if my memory serves:

strangely, there's no reference for it in shipschematics.net

Okey Dokey.  Here's an update.

I'm trying to get more used to max and it's many buttons. lol :D

Below is a picture of the model, made in Milkshape but the smoothing groups were set in 3DS Max. :D  I'm also going to try to UVW Map this sucker for my first time in 3DS Max.  It's been adjusted to a simple schematic I found online somewhere but it was only a side view and it's pretty close to the design.  Not exact mind you but pretty close. :D

Poly Count: 9616

Mesh is not final as i may adjust the model to be of one piece.  Currently, it's in 3 parts.  The top, middle and bottom sections.  I've yet to test it in BC to make sure it is destroyable and hopefull won't dissappear like the prior drydocks.

Anyway, the pic...

Update time :D

I've done some mapping and texturing these past few days.  And I must say, I've done pretty good from not knowing how to map in 3ds max.  But, here's some pics for you all to look.

that looks really great cord.  i'd also say that you've done a good job on the textures.  What resolution are they?
