Hey everyone, I'm not a modeler.  But I do enjoy mods as much as the next Trekker.  So I thought I would start a post for any non model stuff I might come up with, that could benefit the community in some fashion.  I posted a while ago about a Music Mod for BC using music from the movie "The 6th Day".  I've had a mishap with that, mostly involving an accidental deletion lol.  I'm still working on bringing it back though so for anyone who was interested, stay tuned.

In the mean time, I've been working on creating a new set of Stars for BC.  Each one is based on Stars from the different movies, since each one seemed to have its own unique style of Stars for space.  Examples below.

Looks good, although I can see the star pattern repeats often in the 3rd picture. The other 2 look good I like them

that star trek nemesis one is actually super good. It's something pure from the movies and the shows. Good job!

I don't want to rain on your parade, but I thought I probably should forewarn you, Copyrighted music cannot be posted on BCFiles. (that's why KM1 was removed) So if you want to do a music pack from the Sixth Day soundtrack, you're welcome to, but you'll have to find somewhere else to host it.

I know, I'll probably either post it somewhere else or do it as a email by email basis.  Depends on how many people like it.  I'll take a look at the Star Trek XI stars and see if I can't fix it.

I redid the Star Trek XI stars so they don't look repeated in game.  The First Contact stars were redone too since they also had the same problem.  It's hard to see in my original pic, but trust me they were worse than the XI stars in terms of repeating patterns.  Anyways, here are some examples.

Also, right now the stars are at 1024x1024.  Should they be smaller or is that the average size for stars now?

Question:  If on certain places on Earth, you can see the arc of the Milky Way, then can't you see it in space?  All starfields in Star Trek seem so uniform.  It would be cool to see a realistic starfield for once.

Not a request btw. ;)  I know I'll be using that XI starfield.

That would seem kind of hard considering how BC loads the stars.  It can be noticeably annoying when you can see star patterns repeating all the time.  I agree though it would be neat to point your ship towards the center of the galaxy and be able to know it just by looking at the densely packed stars.

Here is another star field, based on Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

EDIT: Maybe I should actually upload the picture lol...

Wait, what?

He probably means he doesn't have the time to play much anymore.

I have some more here.  The first one is from Star Trek Generations.  The Second one was kind of hard to get because it's from Star Trek Insurrection and there is only one good scene in the movie that even shows stars since the rest of the film takes place in the Briar Patch.  And the third here isn't Star Trek related... this one is from Galaxy Quest  :).

yeah, the starfield in game is tiled, so something like this would be nearly impossible.

Quite so  :)   The only thing you can really alter is the density of stars.  Only way I can think to get a milky way into environment is as a texture map.

Someone with more experience should probably try that one out lol.  Although I did whip this up real quick, (no real effort to it), just to see what it would look like.  It needs work lol.  I'm sure I could play around with it some more if I really wanted too.

The Galaxy Quest one was a little tricky to do because that movie does show more density in the stars.  Nearly every shot of the Protector was against a densely packed star scape.  I may take a look at some more Trek Movies and see if any more of them had unique looking stars that I could add to the game.  If not then I may release this very soon :D.

Oh and I took a screen shot of that second pic because I thought that it was just gorgeous.  The way the stars look, (Trek XI stars), against the sun and the Enterprise I thought it almost looked as good as one of the movies.  You guys can be the judge of that though lol.  It's smaller resolution because I submitted it for POTD at BC Files.

Enjoy :)

Nice pics!  I assume you added milky way as nebula-style texture?  If so, may be having same problem I've had with my Mutara system mod in getting high enough resolution working ingame...

Thanks :). Yeah they always look stretched out and digital when seen in the game.

I think I'm about ready to release this Star Pack.  Here they are in order of film, with Galaxy Quest as the very last one :).  If anyone has any last minute sugestions let me know now and I'll take care of it now before release :D.  But until then, here is some eye candy...
