Proteus-class test flight report
Pilot: Lionus, SF:R&D's official crash test dummy
Alright, here we go. The ship, overall, is pleasing to look at. It's smooth, almost organic looking, almost like a space-dwelling alien instead of ship. Unusual color scheme also reinforces this feeling. Handling-wise, she is above average on all fronts. Acceleration and deceleration is good, as well as rotating, pitching and yawing. When testing her against enemy vessels, I noticed that I was unloading the forward torpedo alpha first, then turning slightly while doing a longitudinal roll, essentially roasting the fiend with full phaser coverage, before turning tail and releasing the aft torp volley. By then, FWD torpedo tubes had been recharged thus I rinsed and repeated. The agility of the ship suits this tactic well. I also warped to various systems, and didn't spot any glitches. I dropped by at DS9, helped to fight off couple waves of Jem'Hadar vessels. This brought up my only niggle with this otherwise fine and fierce ship.. Her quantum torpedo load diminishes quickly, thanks to that always so pleasant alpha strike. I also did try boosting systems, and it was reasonably easy to find balance that didn't drain the batteries too quickly, and I didn't even need to turn anything down. Tactical icons and everything worked well (Although, I think I saw that one of the tactical displays phaser arcs was slightly misaligned..

)
P.S. I kept warping around because I liked the way the ship looked like in the warp..
Overview:
Handling: 7.5/10.0 Agile, but not too much so. Well balanced to the size of the ship.
Weaponry: 8.5/10.0 Phaser- and torpedo-wise evenly matched with the heavy hitters of DS9FXExtended, not counting the Borg that seem to be berserk.. That Torpedo Alpha softens them up nicely.
Systems: 9.75/10.0 Could boost shields and weapons to reasonable readings without draining power reserves, nothing ridiculous. Every bell and whistle works.
Looks: 9.95/10 I'd happily rock it around the Alpha- and Beta quadrant.
Lionus thanks you for the ride and signs out.
