Framerate and Warp Speeds
« on: October 13, 2008, 04:24:19 PM »
Okay, so two problems at the moment, not too serious; but extremely annoying...

First of all, after about 6 quickbattles, my framerate drops to about 1 or 2 FPS (Sometimes even less!) And I've got to close the game and re-start it... (This even happens when there are only 2 ships, me and an enemy)
I'm running on:
Windows Vista
nVidia geForce 8300
Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz
2GB RAM

Another thing, I've been editing some .py files in BCSMC, so they're in correct folders and have canon warp speeds. But some ships have their maximum speed and cruise speed at warp 6, even though the .py file states it should be say, warp 8...
(If anyone wishes me to upload said .py file(s) I will do so as soon as I can)

P.S. Sometimes when I exit the game, my screen resolution is set at 800 x 600 and I cannot change it untill I re-start my PC. But I doubt that it's actually BC related.

I dunno whats going on; so any help would be gladly appreciated.
                                                                              Many thanks, Majormagna/Dan.

It's entirely possible that some scripts aren't properly releasing resources.
I believe this is part of the random crash at exit problem.

Are you exiting the QB game entirely between sessions or just setting up a new QB battle after the previous one ended?
I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...

Setting up a new battle directly afterwards, since exiting QB and restarting it causes the game to crash...

Which it still does at inoppertune times  :P

I always crash on exit. How to avoid it? Abort the current mission to get to the main menu, and then exit. I never crash anymore.

And warp will always suck the frames out. Try lowering star pulses in your KM Galaxy Charts config.

The warp concern and framerate items are completely unrelated (For me)
I never crash on exit, merely in the middle of the game  :P

I've deleted the affected ships .pyc files; as CJ told me to on MSN, I'll see if it works soon.

I don't think it's related to actual ships.

My "main" install crashes on Abort Mission and on Exit Game, whichever comes first.

But I don't mind, my "loop" usually never goes beyond "start QB".

Some help would be appreciated; thanks in advance.

Upload the following file:
scripts/Custom/Ships/AkiraEX.py

It contains an error, fixable.

This problem has been fixed, as well as numerous others, over WLM.

If the file comes from a mod, please upload it here for others.
And contact the original author.

The file is from a mod, but I've been experimenting with some scripts...

So, all in all; my bad!
