I was pissing around on Max in Computer Gaming with someone else earlier, and we started something similar to this. Unfortunatly, he has a plugin that I don't so I had to improvise!

The surround is a screenshot from the show, and was superimposed with Photoshop.

I'm not sure whether his counts cos its photoshopped but...heres my first take.
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

I really hate late-night inspiration, especially when I need to wake up four hours later to go to work. Please pardon the poor excuse for a phaser beam xD

Nice JOB mate, I have always loved atolms designs, however, the fin looks out of place on this..   howard did a superb job on building it though, looks great.

Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

A few from me using Limey's awesome Nova mesh *gives beer to Limey*

My first render with the mesh:

My second, Horsehead nebula, colour balance and a planet i had lying around:

My third... Google =P:

Out of curiosity Limey, is there any way to tone down the light intensity, on default lighting settings in max he comes out super bright... I have to brightness/contrast it in photoshop, and even then it doesn't work as well as i would like...

That's the alpha channel on the textures.

Yay, I inspired someone.

I wish I still had my Copy of 3ds, I lost it a while ago.

found some really old (And Bad) renders on my forgotten Imageshack account, Saving and uploading.

Mind you, all of these are 4 years old, so don't expect anything good. I've taken classes using 3ds so i've improved.

This is the earliest Uploaded on my shack account, but I don't think it was the earliest I made. It was a Title card for a RP I was in.

Ah, the Shadow Class, some crazy Kit bash I made up one day when I accidentally grabbed the Nacelles off a Sovy and Dragged them over the saucer of a connie Re-fit. (Funny thing is, one of My concepts looked a lot like the Kelvin from XI)

This one is Just crap, In was trying to show Voyager in orbit with the Prommie after arriving home

One of my Better ones, 2 Defiants and a Excal on Patrol.

As you can tell, I liked that earth background. Ignore the earth texture on the Drydock, Not sure how that got there,

And a couple of Voyager Renders

That you did. ;) In fact, since then I've had a little more practice with renders and have found some better models for that situation. Now I just need a good tutorial for making suns/lens flares in Max.

it's Kaliban's FCA, in the SBP07 Drydock, Rendered in Poser 7.  Here's a link to the full size render: http://artzone.daz3d.com/azfiles/gallery/j7/e4/enzkebjb10hcyx9qu8kqd1wegrxoa7-full.jpg

I was playing around a bit with the lighting, every light you see on the Enterprise is either a spot or a point, I didn't use any of the alpha channels.
