How's this? Added a slight cloud layer in Photoshop, too.
Now that's pretty good.
Here's an M Class planet texture I created a while back for a project I was part of.
How did you do the atmosphere? I'm really dissatisfied with mine right now.

Larkin, that is much better.  The colors all stand out more intensely, and the light playing on the hull tells me we are in the MIDDLE of this stuff going on around us.  Really "there".

I followed the 3 part tutorial from this web site. Give you all you need to make a planet in Max.

the texture on those phaser arrays is still too light, it needs to be black, not grey

I like that flyby animation of the NX-91001, Vladko. While I didn't much care for the STO designs at first, seeing it in motion like that makes it look a lot better  :D .
Here's one from me; another go at flexing Blender's rendering muscles again. This one's the infamous crash from 'Cause and Effect'.

Have another cookie, unknown :D

And now, several other test videos from me. I didnt worry too much about the lighting or special effects of the scenes, because these were mostly tests for the camera work. Do note I still have to watch the series, but I have seen bits and pieces of the camera work.

I'll probably do a few more of these renders in the future.

Aye. Good times they were. :(

A work in progress, I am going to try to recreate Robert Wilde's Warp effect the best I can in 3ds Max and Adobe After Effects. Credit goes out to DJ Curtis for the fantastic USS Pegasus.
