How to make an Original Connie look like the Kelvin with GIMP
« on: November 28, 2008, 02:21:14 PM »
Heres a nutty little project I want to do. Make an orignal series Connie look like the Kelvin from the new filum. What I've discovered:

The Kelvin has a dirty look to it on the edges of the plating.
Theres a lot of "raised" plating.

Of course, I'm a GIMP user (why oh why does Adobe have to be so expensive??!!) and I do believe it is capable of creating effects like those above.

So, task is:
1) Make a TOS connie look like the Kelvin.
2) Not screw up

This is just a little project but if I find that it is possible as a mod, then I will start a WIP in the Modding thread. So, advice?
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

It would be easier to just build a new ship instead of chooping verious images of a connie together so that it looks like the kelvin. but hey, what do I know? I'm just a professional graphics artist :P

YOU suck, get a life, moran.

...Probably not, but the number I get(379.6m) could be considered ?original intent,? a term that I think I will be using from now on, and ?canon? be damned.
