BC On Intel Dual Core...Whats it like?

Actually Im ideally planning an Intel dual core upgrade for my PC for ST: Legacy but if it will make BC run 10times sweeter then it already does, it'll be worth it.

So, anyone have any experience on dual core with BC?

I am buying a AmD x2 4600 later today to compliment my asus a8n32 Sli Deluxe 1gb of dual channel 400mhz ram and a 7900gt :D

I was ideally talking about Intel brand processors, the new dual core ones to be precise but let me know the results of your 'AMD experiment'. After all, I dont want to end up wasting hard earned cash.

People are saying Intel are ahead now in Cpu terms, but I've gamed with intel and AMD rigs and I am always more happy with AMD.

In either case, let me know how well 2 AMD processors handle BC. Your reviews may be enough to make me convert to 'AMDism', LOL.

The game wasnt written for dual core CPU's so who knows. I doubt there would be any increased perfomance other than them being newer CPU's

Nope, BC isn't written for dual core, let alone Multi threading (which is a requirement to make proper use of dual core).

Your experiences shouldn't magicly improve.



Also, Intels dual core is just 2 cores slapped on top of each other, while AMD's dual core are actually 2 cores, side by side, integrated.

I went from an Athlon XP 2600+ to a Athlon 64 X2 4200 and it made virtually no difference.  Having more RAM made a difference, so did moving to a 512 DDR2 video card.

Yeah, BC eats graphical memory more than anything else - I've been really tempted to get an X1600PRO but am holding out for the X1600XT to go on sale (it has DDR3, whereas the PRO has DDR2).

My GForce7600 might have something to do with it but it is a lot better than my old system.

i have an amd 64 l!ve dual core processor and
it improves the game by speed,
it runs on Windows Vista home premium so
it can also improve the speed by Vista
but of that i am unsure

You will notice improvement when you play BC on a dual core system.  It allows you to move all your windows processes and services onto the other core, which free's up the other, which can then be dedicated to running BC. :)

i have an intel E6600 in my comp, and i cant slow down bridge commander!, i have gotten to 50 ships without serious game play studiers. with a borg cube and 20 high res fed ships it runs flawlessly.
