It looks like it has smiley faces on the impulse decks.

Hehe.

Yes, this ship is on the small size compared to most other vessels.

Here is a pic of the latest texture work, finishing up some reworking here and there, corrections and the like. Then its on to the ventral hull.

Note a few things...I decided, since this is a warship, to darken the textures a bit, leave the main registry unlit but light a nameplate in the nose, and keep the lighting a bit darker then normal. Generally lighting inside the ship is about equal to the lighting on the episode "Yesterdays Enterprise", TNG.

Also corrected some window size problems. Most of the quarters windows are full length, where others are only half windows.

Agreed completely.

Ok, a few more changes and tweaks, and I am getting ready to texture the bottom.

First, the nose...I removed the small cannons on the lateral edge of the saucer and moved them underneath the saucer on retracting pylons (they sit in a bay and extend out when needed), cleaned them up a bit and increased them in size. I felt that the ship needed a weapon that could be used at close range with a bit of a punch. I also added a second torp tube and disruptor points on the lateral saucer edge. I intend to add a number of disruptor points across the hull to increase coverage, but will probably leave this ship phaser strip free.

As you can see, I also modified the lighting inside the cowl of the nav deflector assembly. I may tweak it a bit more to get it perfect...its not quite there yet.

On the hull I redid the windows and the escape pods to bring them to proper scale.

For the aft quarter I added another nameplate, though I still need to fix the cutoff on the bottom of the illumination area. I also illuminated each of the hangar doors.

Let me know what you think sofar.

Blood red deflector dish? Certainly...new around Fed based ships. :P

I'm loving the glow around the deflector.  Nice job with that!  And I like the new weapons' placement.

Thanks guys. The red deflector is a signature of Marine Corps vessels. They use a different deflector system then the rest of the fleet. It was a klingon/federation codesign...a bit less efficient but much more resistant to damage.

All of the Marine Corps vessels were codesigned by fed and klingon engineers.

Every time I think this is done you come up with something to make it even better. Like the idea of the disruptors and pulse cannons w/o phaser strips. This things going to be the equivalent of an A-10 Warthog when shes done just faster...

Ok, a few more changes.

I decided the paneling on the saucer, as well as the shape needed a little bit of a redo. Here is the latest with registries in place.

Im glad you guys like it...I was a little iffy about it, but eventually I felt the grey was too prevalent on the saucer, and it needed more dark to match its personality. I might still section up the part on the saucer itself a bit, give it a more tile like look.

I am trying to avoid a serpent like look, since this ship should invoke a bird like presence.

Now that is a beauty.

Make sure to give me a call when you need beta testers. Are you willing to do alternate registery textures so that we can choose if we want it as a Federation ship or Marine Core ship?
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Your going to hate me for this :!: The ships is great but now I think you need a special marine shuttle or drop ship.. I've only been following this ship for  almost 3 years you'd think I'd learn to keep my mouth shut.. Just a thought....

Actually, if the idea of the Starfleet Marine Corps catches on, and others like the logos and red deflectors I am using then I hope members of the community will step up to make their own ships in the 3rd fleet.

Ill have some updates posted soon. Working on textures and mesh corrections atm.
