At the moment the nacelles are 2048 and the hull will be 4096 I estimate 5 textures in total.

These will be reduced before it is released.

Nice.  I like that you turned down the contrast between the two alternating hull colors.

Also, this may be of some use to you.  I used it when I built my Galaxy.

Thanks for the link I'm using that and the CGI nebula from drexfiles (it's own textures were made from hi res pics of the 4ft galaxy model) for the colour and detail.

Baz, don't get me wrong i love your work. But there seems to be something damn wrong about these nacelles. They are damn long and they aren't width enough. Which schematic are you basing on?

Here are a few pics how i think it should look like:

http://wiki.theninthfleet.com/images/thumb/c/c9/GalaxyClassDreadnought.jpg/350px-GalaxyClassDreadnought.jpg

I'm srry but there is something wrong with the ship. I think you should take a few steps back. Compare it to the other ships that are made. I don't get it that other people here aren't seeing it. I've showed this to a few friends of mine and they immediately said that there is something wrong with the ship, some say the entire secondary hull is too big. Please have a look at it.

Edit:

A friend of mine just had a quick look and did a fast comparison.

I use the studio 6ft model for ref. Granted the front is not 100% right at the moment but the scale is fine.

I'd say the plans you have are based on the 4ft'er

Could be but still, in the picture you gave there is a huge difference between the secondary hull and the warpnacelle. (the opening etc). Why is it that the warpnacelles looks so tiny. It is your ship, you decide but if i just saw it by having a look at it and just a bunch of guys that received the link.. Dunno man.

I have altered the nacelle and hull to follow the ref better.

I am now happy with the mesh and will not be doing any further alterations.

I've also rendered a comparrison between mine and the 4ft studio model

Great work Baz!  To me it looks like your work is pretty spot on.  Keep it up!

Hold on, because i can't follow anymore which is yours and which is picture from a site..

The complete last picture for instance, the drex file one and the right one. The drex one is a 6ft model and the right one is yours?

Looking excellent Baz.

One thing I notice is that I think the warp nacelles on yours are a bit too long compared to the reference.

Did a comparison of baz work and the drex 6ft model.

I've never "nitpicked"(this isn't nitpicking anymore) at baz work before but someone has to do it.. You better do this ship correct instead of making 2 a 3 versions of it, correction and remaking it..

Here is the comparison, there is a lot to do..

i didn't even put names at the saucer pictures.

Edit: Baz, don't take this personal. You've made some great ships and i just want this to be another great ship on your portfolio.

Maybe it's simply a refinement on the design, a secondary run of the hull class? I mean if the modifications we saw on the tmp 1701 was supposed to be an "overhaul" of what we saw in tos, this isn't even that extreme. Out of proportion or not I like it.
I just realised something. I've released over 300 fully modded ships for bridge commander. Bow to your master :D

Sov I respect your work but I think you're a little off base here.  Everyone does there own work how the see it should be done.  If everything had to be the same and perfect it would lead to quite the boring game play.  Personally I like what Baz is doing and I am glad to see that his work is getting better with every ship.  I do believe this kind of nit picking is what pushes modders to stop doing what they do.

Lol.  Neb just about drove me to drink when I was making my Galaxy Class a few years ago.  I sweat he MSN'd me two or three times a night when I was in the heat of it.  But I really appreciate it now, because the product turned out a lot better than what I would have let it go as.

He tends to do that to everyone...*ducks*

Seriously though, I realize that Baz has put god knows how much sweat in this model.  A little Criticismo won't hurt anyone (and yes I did just spell it with an o :P).  I just hope Baz takes it as Constructive instead of "Do this now" :(

However, I believe some of those pictures Sov are of the D Rendered with the image in the background.  If that's what he's going for then it might be alright.  Sometimes rendered images are distorted in a way that it looks different, but it really isn't.

right final word on the matter.

Here is a pic with my wire frame overlaid the pic.

Yes it is not perfect especially the bottom but at this stage shy of deleting a week of work I can live with it.

We have portfolios now?

Graphic designers, like me, have portfolio's. A portfolio can be viewed in a list with the work you've done. Like if you go to bcfiles, click on the modder, you see all the work he has done. This can be adressed as a portfolio.

True, but, nitpickers are mostly doing this to "hurt" or "irritate" a modder. And pointing out the most stupid things like ooh look a window is not correct etc.. I don't think this is nitpicking if you are trying to recreate one of the most well-known ships in history in star trek and actually scifi. Modders do another version of there work because they can undo some errors or make it better. Why not do it in the first time while you are at it. Some people can start to believe you are just working too fast, just want to do another ship or so, or that you get sloppy or you don't give a damn about constructive commenting. Baz, it is your ship and if you don't want to change because you will lose a week, don't get mad that people will prefer another galaxy class because it is much more accurate. Modders don't want to hear this.

Lol.  Neb just about drove me to drink when I was making my Galaxy Class a few years ago.  I sweat he MSN'd me two or three times a night when I was in the heat of it.  But I really appreciate it now, because the product turned out a lot better than what I would have let it go as.

I don't want that baz start drinking or so. :) I just want that after he finishes this he can say:" oke the dude was right, it looks more correct." Instead of people are rating it low because the ship doesn't really look like the 6feet model or because it is quite different.

You guys know i hate nitpickers and i've never but ever started doing this on a modder's page. Never i said something like it seems odd or strange or whatever on a modder's thread. Never.. This however instantly took my eye and others just by having even a look at it and not even comparing it.

I'm a graphic student and i'm now in my last year and i'm gonna start with Maya this year. After that i will be happy to join and do some models too ;)
