Ship Positions on view screen
« on: August 02, 2009, 02:29:20 PM »
Hi guys,

I was wondering if it might be possible to add the positions and movement of ships to the main view screen?

For example, from the tactical menu you could have a button called "Tactical Display" which displays details of all ships in the area, but this information comes in the form of arrows, bars, etc in the view screen. A HUD display if u will.

I've tinkered around with the scrips in BC b4, but i wouldn't know where to being in making something like this. I'd appreciate any comments/thoughts u guys have on this  :D

In theory you could make the viewscreen camera look at the map view. But I currently can't remember exactly how one would do that. I do know it's possible, since you can make the camera point at anything (even the player "camera"). But I currently can't remember of the top of my head how one would go about doing that.
I still can't read peoples minds, nor can I read peoples computers, even worse, I can't combine the two to read what is going wrong with your BC install...

Map still doesn't give that info.

I think he's talking about drawing lines on the ship's direction vector, and displaying additional information with the reticule, like position, orientation, and so forth. Like a fighter plane's HUD does. It'd be nice to add vertical lines to the sensor display, to indicate an object's distance from your ships' horizon.
