Dalek: Thanks for making me feel at ease. Like is said, this is Hobbs model, i'm jest fixing it for him. I got nerves when Nebula said it looked like his. After i fixed the errors and smooth the griffin out, it kind of took a better shape, i think better than the original. But we will have to see what Hobbs thinks.

Nebula: I'm getting better at doing Textures. Once this ship id done and sent to HOBBS, if you would like i might be able to help. I have not even tryed glows or converting max to NIF yet, but i'm always ready to try new things.

bankruptstudios:  wow man thats awsome! thank you.... but (sorry but this is where i get picky)

can we move the phaser strips back to the original positions but lengthen the shorter ones (see below)

the torpedo launchers (front section of saucer) need to be moved the left one to the left and the right one to the right (see below)

also on the top saucer can the section i marked as "a" be moved back in direction of arrow.

you are skilled mate!

im posting my original design so you can see.

in reguards to the nacelles may i request they stay the same, i agree the vivace ones would look good but i'd like to keep my ship original.

the pic below has 4 phaser strips  on the saucer meant to be 3.

Sorry Nebula, didn't mean to make it look like your ship, what ship was that again? This is a re vamp of a ship design that HOBBS made. I'm jest fixing it up for him. I'm glad you like it. I'm a little nerves because this is my first time modeling.

hehe np, I haven't been able to release that ship of mine cause I lack mapping/texturing skills...
The team that helped me with a few of my previous ships split up/disappeared a while ago

hi there. nice to know we think the same design wise... i dont know bout you but when i designed the griffin i took the shape of the galaxy class saucer (top view) and rotated it 90 degrees then cut out the section where the nacelles go.

can we see a pic of your ship, love to see it.

I thought you might like some things moved. I'm working the bridge right now. I'm still a little hung over from my surprise birthday party last night. The hull and the bridge elements don't line up as the orignal was not designed to so im in the process of thinning the tail of the bridge to fit. If there is any thing elce you want done let me know soon. I'll post some pics tomorrow to show the new bridge. Also, If the phasers and torpedoes are moved, it's likly that a new hard point system will have to be used. Do you do scripting?

one of the other guys on here helped me get the MVAM working now my ship can extend and retract her nacelles :)

how was the slipstream calculations

and finally: Happy Birthday for yesterday :D here's some shades  8) (and a cookie for all all your help and your birthday except i dont know how i cookie you lol)

Once you hit 50 posts a plus sign appears next to the persons name, you hit that and you'll give a cookie. Phase cannons? And the slipstream cals are the same as i found, but was not sure. At one site is said 300 ly in 5 min and the other said  15 so we'll go with that. You always have an answer for me, and thats great. Would you like to be the technical adviser for the show? And thanks for the happy birthday.

technical advisor? that sounds good, always new my knowledge of trek would com in handy one day lol glad to help

phaser cannons....hmm does the ship you have i sent have pulse phaser cannons? if not never mind lol if it does then could you model them into the model... just make 4 cylinders and put them on the model at the place indicated on my drawing

I double checked my calculations apparently in the voyager episode it was the dauntless that travelled 15 ly in a few mins (no actually voiced time)
But voyagers slipstream lasted 1hour and they travelled 300ly's
so my new calculations would be:

300ly in 1 hour
300 / 60 = 5ly per min
so 15ly / 5 = 3mins travel at slipstream

= 5ly X 60mins = 300ly = 300ly per Hour

sorry bout that. the new calculations are as cannon as possible, i took the numbers from voyager scripts for the show.

so 437.5ly / 5ly = 87.5mins / 60 = 1.4583333 hours

(= 1h 27m 30s [87.5-60= 27.5 (= 1h27m30s) ])

wow that's so cool thank you. :D

i'm sorry to be picky again but could you remove the two phasers on the saucer section that are at right angles to the others... that area is the shuttle bays. (those two were replaced by the long one on the aft section)

would you also be able to send me the ship to try in game.

also if this ships is going to be slipstream then the three phaser on the segments that can be changed need to be removed

hope you dont mind me asking all this but you doing such a cool job.
thank you thank you thank you

Hobbs: "If this ships is going to be slipstream then the three phaser on the segments that can be changed need to be removed." I'm not sure what you mean? I've been using your drawling to see what you originally wanted and has been at this point re building the shop. With the exception of the nacells, the rest i had to re do. Don't get me wrong, this is fun and i'm learning alot from this. Jest explain what else you want and try to post an updated pic so i can see and it'll be done. Also the ship is in .max format and once the model is finished i'll send it to you to try out before we do the textures. DO you know how to convert it to .NIF to use in game?

Also visit ST: FRONTLINES WIP at http://bc-central.net/forums/index.php/topic,6330.0.html to see starting work on the CORINIUM CLASS.

cool, my friend. awesome!

i'll start from the begining lol

the Griffin Class is a reconfigurable ship with removable saucer sections. these sections can be changed at starbase for different missions.
the ship built so far are specific to those missions and are already configured.
the ships are:
USS GRIFFIN, escort/explorer (pulse phasers)
USS GRYPHON, explorer/science (enhanced sensors)
USS DRAGON, war/escort (heavy phaser cannon, pulse phasers)
USS UNICORN, medical/rescue (enhanced shields and extra medical bays)
USS PEGASUS-A/USS HIPPOGRIFF, slipstream retaliation escort (slipstream field coils and pulse cannons)

the pic below is the slipstream version (just a representation) it shows where the slipstream field coils replace the phasers
[explanation for the name of the slipstream varient: the hippogriff in mythology was said to travel as fast as lightening]

uss griffin (pulse cannons)

uss gryffon (standard) current model you have

pic 1: super phaser on front saucer segment (uss dragon)
pic 2: pulse cannons x2 on bottom middle segment [should be on oposite segment too] (uss dragon and uss griffin)
pic 3: no change needed (uss gryphon and uss unicorn)

Ok, the space frame is finished for the griffin. I'll see what i can do for the other mods but this one is complete. 90% re done and fixed, i'll i have to do is add the nacelle. The slip coils should be viable during extended mode but dark, and when you go slip stream, they lighten up, what do you think?

exactly as i imagined lol!

you are a god...and you say youve only just started modelling? natural talent me thinks :D

can you lengthen the 2 phaser strips on the ventral side of the saucer and line them up with the last phasers on the dorsal side. though of course the slipstream coils would replace the those phasers along with the forward phaser

ya know.... IMHO this sounds like it would fit as a custom mission game... kinda like DS9fx has... just an idear.. you got the backstory, and already working on the ships, y not recruit a good scripter to do the missions, sets, whatnot and release them in the pack?

you could keep the name and everything :D

.....just a thought
I came, i saw, i added a Sig.
Later gents, i have Youtube to take over.

Interesting. I'm hoping to see a cameo of Captain Morgan Bateson, Captain Gabriel Bush, & the U.S.S. Bozeman-A in this era.

If there's a novelization of this concept, I'd like to have it for my fan-fiction archive.

if this is a modding project, should this thread not be in BC Modding?
