I hate 3d movies. Putting glasses over my glasses is annoying as hell.

I took my daughter to see spykids 3d years ago and i was amazed at how far that technology has come i loved that part. I would love to see it in 3d myself.

3D is kinda of old now though, isn't it?

I don't even remember the last 3D movie I saw.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

Ice Age 3 was made for 3D for example.

I thought it was only a gimmick to sell bad movies...

Oh wait, don't go there.

nah I saw one of those 'sawish bloody movies' (not saw but equally brutal) in 3d few days ago, there are many 3d movies these days and I bet it will be more considering almost every town has brand new cinema supporting 3d films then it's growing mre popular ;) I'll definitelly watch STXII in 3d when it's out

I heard that the first 3 Starwars movies are being made into 3d movies.  It does seem rather silly to me.

Not even death would stop George Lucas.

He'd probably leave detailed instructions in his will so that future generations can screw up Star Wars again and again for the next few years.

How would ST XII work when its released on Blu-Ray afterwards though? I'm still a n00b when it comes to the Blu-Ray format (got my first Blu-Ray disc, Tropic Thunder, on the same day as my Blu-Ray player and HDTV last week, not impressed TBH) but would 3D really work well at all when on a Blu-Ray disc?

Ehh, you're probably right Billz, and first thing on that list is a 400 episode animated series starring Jar Jar Binks.

As for Blu-Ray, I don't know how 3D could be implemented.  Blu-Ray's main advantage over DVD is storage space, near as I can tell.  I'm watching Transformers 2 on my PS3 right now, and even though I have an SD tv, I can't tell much difference.  However, it does allow for more features and so forth to be on a single disk, which is why it'll be perfect for the LOTR extended editions.  Also great for more special features. ;)

not every movie on Blu-ray has miraculous improvement over DVD except for superior sharpness, Empire Strikes Back is beatifull indeed on HDTV but when you compare it to EP III or STXI there's a huge difference EP.V asteroid field scene is blurry in some places especially small asteroids in background, older movies for blu-ray like Aliens, The Terminator or Predator looks great but they're not too impressive on 42' HDTV compared to LOTR etc.

The Final Destination.

If you can watch that and not think the effects are cool, we have a problem.

Never saw it. The first 3 were such a dissapointment (aisde from 'Stifler' getting decapitated in the first film, lol) that I never bothered with the 4th movie.

Anyway, with J.J.s love for lense flare (Nedes moar lenz flaer, lol), a 3D Trek would practically cause major eye strain. Unless the lense flare is cut down. But since CBS execs have since taken the 'make s**t look cool' approach, I dont see it happening.

no, just NO!

i have a hard enough time keeping up with technology (it took me forever to get a DVD player), we don't need more complications, dangnabbit.

and no cracks from Captain Obvious about the grumpy old man, this time!

LOL I think I can get your point here ... but what drives me so fond of 3d Trek is simple curiousity :) I'd like to watch ST in full 3d just like i did watched few other new or older movies ;)
