« on: January 06, 2010, 06:00:36 AM »
Guys,i know this is in the wrong topic area, but i'm asking you to please either not move it, or wait to, seriously, we are getting SO close STO that i feel we need to seriosuly discusss forming a Fleet. I actually..LIKE you guys.i'd be honored to be fighting alongside you in battle, defending the Federation.

May i suggest dj curtis as the leader or darkthunder? i think you guys have great heads on your shoulders.and also, DJ, listen, don't take insult to the sto community who bash your version of the excalibur class to the one in sto..see  it as a compliment that your model  is recognised...

Guys..seriously..i really respect alll of you..yeah..even you candle..the mere thought of maybe talking ion ventrilo and listening to DJgive the order to "engage" attack pattern alpha..c'mon....

let's DO THIS PEOPLE!!!!!!1

If we're talking about forming a fleet in Star Trek Online, and STO will be within my budget... :

Where do I sign up?

(And how about the chain of command?)

Trust me. Having a clan / Fleet requires a fleet commander... I don't mean a guy who says "Tonight we all meet to fight the other clan", no I mean the guy who co-ordinates battles, and actions...

For instance: We come up agains a small fleet consisting of a Bird of Prey, 4 Vor'cha's and 1 Neg'var, and we have 1 Saber, 2 Akiras, 1 Excalibur and One Prommie.

Ususally peoples instinct is to take out the weakest ship first so everyone in the fleet go for the Bird of Prey... In the meantime the Vor'chas and the Neg'var can out flank the rest.

Now had there been a commander, he would probably have ordered the Saber to go for the BoP, The Akiras to go for the Neg'Var and the Prommie to keep the Vor'chas busy.

This stuff makes the diffrence between the winning and the loosing team... IMO

in which case i would personally advise any escorts to break into wings and flank right and left to soften any supporting reserve vessels, the science ship-s to try and determine if any cloaked rerserves are in the area, whiulemy6 flagship- and  the rest head in and see what the enemy6 throw at us. we regroup and focus fireon any6 battleships firsy6t and ignore/shrug off the little bops, anb we have the flanking escoprts take out any6 support ships that may6 buff the enemy units.

if we get outgunned, we strategically withdraw with as many enemy casualties as we can make.

One thing I hate:

From the STO FAQ:

Quote
Q: Will a monthly fee be required to play?
A: We haven't decided on pricing plans yet.

COME ON... TELL US...

if there will be a scoring point of some kind or ratings then I guess it will be important if we get our ships destroyed, so then retreat is less evil to choose from, at least we keep our ships in one piece lol

then again I have never played MMO so I have no idea what it will be :P

in all honesty, where a thread is located doesnt necessarily mean it will get more or less attention than if it were in another place...  and it is better suited for the Games forum...  also, the General Discussion forum is kept to 1 page only, so if a thread is made there and would really be more applicable elsewhere, thats really where it should go...
