Uss Victory, Constellation class Refit
« on: April 29, 2010, 08:27:08 AM »
After speaking with Bones hew suggested i post this project  to BCC so here we are:

Uss Victory, Constellation Class:

This vessel was the only ship to survive the massacre at wolf 359 she later served on the front-lines during the Dominion War.
After the war the ship was returned to space dock for refit. The ship was put through the same kind of refit as the famous Uss Enterprise NCC1701.
The Uss Victory was given increased hull size and internal systems such as weapons, shields and sensors. Also an upgraded warp core was installed giving the vessel it sufficient power for its new systems. With newer warp nacelles the refit Uss Victory has the capabilities to continue as a front line starship making it the longest serving such vessel.

i was thinking about incorporating new style phaser emitters (phaser strips) and a pulse cannon.

I like the concept, but I'm really not digging those necelle pylons at all and the textures need work, they look "stretched" on it. Maybe make the necelles longer too.

Heres a interesting concept, how about replacing the phaser banks with pulse phaser mounts? That would make for a fun ship

Perhaps try using some other Dominion war era nacelles. See if the Sabre, Akira, or other ships' nacelles look better.

I like it.  Maybe bring the nacelle closer together also.

You already know what I suggested. Oh, and I agree on the longer nacelles. Perhaps Centaur nacelles could work nicely.

:funny at least he didn't use Tiburon's nacelles that I tend to use on about every PDW ship  :funny

I also have to agree about the nacelles tho, they need to be much longer than these ;)

overally this one has it's potential, you just need to replace TMP textures, fix some maping issues and work on new parts textures and this is going to be a really nice ship ;)

Gimp is pretty decent graphic editor ;) you could also get yourself something older for beginings, personaly I bought Paint shop Pro 8.10 long time ago for reasonable price, it's pretty good for starters, quite easy and nowadays it's cheap ;)

as for textures, I usually draw basic shapes with vector pen over old texture, just to know what should be where (make sure you resised old texture to the size of new) when you're done with drawing basic shapes and lines on the hull just select new layer of vector lines andrse there copy them over to new clean map. From this point you just have to make new aztec patterns and draw everything you like on your new texture. Of course there are some much more efficient techniques but this is what worked for me from the begining ;)
