It seems that the registry has been chosen, so with out further ado, I christen the vessel U.S.S. Atlantis NCC-05-C :yay: :yay:

Got an idea, after looking for something to add, I came to the conclusion of adding a type of MVAM Fighter, seeing as the ship doesn't have a shuttlebay.

There are far better fonts ofr ship registries. There's a whole font pack free on the internet somewhere.
"To live on as we have is to leave behind joy, and love, and companionship, because we know it to be transitory, of the moment. We know it will turn to ash. Only those whose lives are brief can imagine that love is eternal. You should embrace that remarkable illusion. It may be the greatest gift your race has ever received."

Ive been working on the MVAM fighter, I want it to have a good mix between the F-16 and the Type 9 Shuttle Craft.

Mesh update, re-styled the nacceles to give them a more NX/hint of JJ look. shes just about done so im gonna need a texture, person to convert the model, and a hardpointer. Any takers??

+ cookie for sticking with this.

The nacelle is a definite improvement for this style of ship... it just looks more the part. I made a tut this morning for a guy over at dyna that was struggling to make a sovvy necelle shape.

I will post it for you:-

Ok.
http://www.mediafire.com/?miz2mryhmym
the .zipx is the newest from winzip, you may need to dl the trial version to open
Tut done, using 3ds max 2010 and photoshop CS2, will work on anything from MAX 6 upward and Photoshop 5.0 upward. Gmax if it has the connect tool should be fine also, if not then use the slice plain or the cut tool for those segments.
Using Camstadia the free version, codecs found on their webby, but it works fine on VLC and MPC

Have a look, the reason i say this is that your bussard looks very high poly, and it may help.

I thought high-poly was a good thing?? Im gonna work on a few more mesh errors with the MVAM fighter before I declare her finished.

Not for games mate..

Lower poly, is the way to go...

Still detailed and as many polies as you need..  but not wasted.  ;)

I don't think it has to many polies, at last count, the combined total was justover 11.5k, the ship itself at 7.3k, and the fighter at just over 2k

BTW, I am declaring the model finished, no errors show up for both the ship and the fighter in MeshLab and in Gmax, so I think shes good. I now offer her up for converting, textureing, and hardpointing.

I know you are, but I like it the way it is, I just finished fixing all mesh errors, and I really don't wanna mess with it. Also, I just wanna get this model done so I can start working on my next project.

Not to put a downer on your skills, but you should definitely do something about the smoothing of the model, before declaring it "finished". You'll find there will most likely end up being alot of complaints should this ship ever be released, with the model in it's current state.

It's better to put more time and effort into it, rather than rushing through only to get to "the next thing". Just a bit of advice :)

I took the smoothing issue into consideration and I applied smoothing to the model in Gmax. heres how it turned out after using the .nif plugins to convert and view it in nifskope

I sure like cookies!!! I used the auto-smooth feature in Gmax at level23 and I liked how it looked. I have done the same for the fighter and It looks great too. Now may I declare her finished? As a side note, to any texture-er, I have the files in .NIF so the conversion is already done.
