The similarities are scary.

Paul Bettany doesn't have that hawkish look Stewart has. And I'm not sure whether thats a bad pic but he looks a tad dead.

oh ffs seriously this thread??

JJ-verse is already crap, i highly doubt JJ will ruin TNG and DS9 also...  threads to speculate and have "fun" imagining are ok, but this one is a little bit overboard...  we'll let it run for a while, but it wont have a long life, im sorry to say lol

btw Ming-Na was awesome playing Dr Chen in ER, but she would make a horrible Keiko...
i cant even believe someone was actually paid to write up these two "articles" lol  i mean, just because someone resembles the original actor?  to make a whole article?  chris rock as gowron?? betty white for pulaski?  suuuure, betty white would go over well playing a bitch...
lame...
sorry, but these articles are just stupid...

who the crap ARE most of those actors?! other than the WWe star, betty White (who's too damn old to play Pulaski), and Rachel Weisz, i haven't heard of most of em.  you gotta give me a "what were they in".

Viggo as Garak?  BWAHAHAHA...give him Dukat instead!

TNG i could see being pulled off (it's nearing it's 25th anniversary), but it's too soon for any of the newer ones.  I'd rather see JJ reboot TMP.  see how a much younger kirk takes on V'Ger.  don't forget, since Spock is in twice, Spock Prime will, if he's smart, tell everybody about the Borg a century ahead of time.

a JJ reboot of voyager would have ONE positive note...no hammering on the reset button every episode.

and i think you guys know dang well that the only reason trek got rebooted was so Paramount could make money again.  Milking the cash cow till the bag goes dry :P

Erm, no. Hasn't the timeline been damaged enough already? That would be breaking pretty much every temporal law, different universe or not. Q will eventually introduce the Federation to the Borg, whether through the Enterprise D or another unfortunate starship. Not to mention, its been a long while since the Borg kicked their asses.

And also, who in the Federation would believe him? He can't tell anyone his real identity without causing a big monumental...whatever. They'd want to know everything they could get their hands on.

I can see TNG getting a special effects re-doing like TOS got somewhere down the road (when it's not so expensive), but I don't see it (or DS9 and Voyager) getting re-booted. They simply don't need it.

lemme guess - the next article will be what who would be the actors for JJ-BSG?  lol

now that is something i would love to see!  a completely remastered TNG and DS9...  with more CGI stuff added in (like when the final Star Wars films were redone in the late 90s)...  imagine the battlescenes and awesome graphics; maybe we could finally see a real full Wolf 359 battle (for the premier of DS9)...

i dont think they would ever reboot any of the series tho...  it is bad enough they shamed TOS with the movie and ones to follow, i think more people would groan and be upset if they went that far with it, rebooting any of the series...
then again, a rebooted Star Trek: Enterprise might turn out better than the original lol :P

one thing we all agree on is that TNG now needs the remaster.  at least the first couple of seasons (or mabey the Gene-half, seasons 1-4).  the last time I saw a tng rerun, the quality was SO bad...

EDIT: Am I the only who likes TNG in it's original physical model format? Don't get me wrong, it would be interesting to see TNG redone with CGI, but I will always prefer the original production eps, no matter how pretty the potential CGI gets.

Also, someone at UGO was actually paid to write an article suggesting those actors to play TNGJJ characters?!?

You know, after all these months since STXI came out, the "JJ Verse" should technically be called the "ILM-verse" since J.J Abrams didn't actually butt-rape the new Enterprise design in the production CGI process.

Doesn't stop the J.J/ILM verse from being farking carp though, lol.

Just sayin'.
Can't wait for 2014 to start.

In all honesty only DS9's first two seasons would need the CGI, and maybe parts of season 3, but for the most part they're fine as is. Of course if I understand correctly all three TNG-era series would need new special effects done for an HD upgrade.

what I'M saying is the episodes need reprinted, not completely FX redone (like they had to do with TOS's "shoestring budget" FX)

I'm starting to think the main reason people hate the JJprise is the built in American Distaste for curves.

Clearly you're unfamiliar with antique american cars.

Gosh, it's amazing how much Americans are loathed here . . .   For some reason, it seems okay to bash us around here, but I'll bet a large chunk of my butt if I were to do the same against, say, South Africans or Koreans or Indians (from INDIA), I would be handed my hat and told to leave.  Hmmmm . . .

And am I the ONLY one in Star Trek fandom that actually LIKED the new Trek?!  WTF?

Oooh oooh! You can pick on Australia, we really don't mind! Our motto is: "Sod it!". Or it should be.

As for the new Trek, I loved it, but I don't think JJ should or will venture any further forward than TOS/TMP.

Agreed. And to be honest, I sorta want Prime Trek back, somehow. :(
