problem with the multiplayer servers - BC doesn't show any servers when i press the query button

I had the BC with the KM1 installed on a old computer with win xp.It connected to km servers without  any problems.Now i have a new computer with win xp 64bit (a kind of striped down version) and although other games connect over the internet  without problems,the BC doesn't show any servers when i press the query button.I installed another BC with another mod and i started both versions.Over the lan connection i could see my own server.I don't think its my win firewall because i disabled it.I use avast antivirus but even when i stop all protection the game doesn't show any internet servers.I go through a router but that was also the case with my old computer.  I apologize for the long post but i wanted to be thorough.

You have to open ports in the router so BC can see servers on the net.
