Aircraft deco pack
« on: August 24, 2010, 08:18:20 AM »
just thought I'd throw this out there.  would anyone be interested in an aircraft-style deco for a common starship, just to break up the monotony?  I've been buried in plane books lately, and feel like working on a skin.

ideas so far

US Marine
US night Fighter
RAF night
RAF Coastal Command (think Hudsons)
Italian Desert
Soviet 50's
Soviet 70's
Finn

WW1
Imperial Russian
Imperial German late war
Flying Circus
Sopwith  RFC/RNAS
Spad (French and or AEF)

any other suggestions/countries would be welcome.

Throw in a paint scheme like on NASA's F-15 Active and you've got yourself a download.

Don't forget about the Jolley Rogers squad, my favorite design scheme of any fighters next to the WWII Flying tigers

so, people want the stunt aerobatics planes? hm.  oh, I've got to look some of those up, too. *just looked at F15 active* OOoo, nice.  wish I had a fighter to slap these on, too.

Edit:   I just looked these up.  MOST countries have 3 Aerobatics teams! (yoo-hoo...lionus, you forgot your own aerobatics team :P).  I'm gonna have to make a poll, though I should take one from all the big powers at least.  and I think we should cook up a "starfleet original" as well

does anyone have a ship to recommend these skins onto?  i was gonna use the connie I converted for P-star as a base model.

I didn't forget them. I didn't mention them because they're lacking a special paintjob if I recall right..

Thunderbirds?
also how about a F4U Corsair paint job, and a P-51D silver job?

the Corsair would fall under the "US Marine" paint scheme (but with a solid bottom).  and i bet you mean the mustang with the checker stripe and the sharkmouth.

btw...Thunderbirds as in "marionation"?

Personally I think it'd fit best on the Defiant. I dunno what it is about that ship but it just screams for that sort of attention. Or perhaps a captured marquis b'rel, or peregrine.. I could go on for ages.

*evil grin* a Defiant is perfect, as would be a peregrin.  i think I'll make this a skin only.  I still have a P81 version of the defiant, so that'll be relatively easy.

I will add pics in ON this thread, or make a scratch version in either "art" or "mods".

note: a defiant version may be an overlay on the existing schematic.  i might attempt a connie version with the one I have, as I know that model well.

Heh, Trick-warpflight. "Hey ma, check out this loop! No hands!"

Could be pretty cool though, look forward to seeing how they unfold.
