from this, its sound like your sound card may be on the way out, are you using an intergrated sound card or a PCI/PCI-E sound card lurok?

We've already established NOT sound card prob as working ok generally and ok on SP install

One other issue noted:  on sound slider controls,  if I adjust voice and fx levels they default back to 100 on next load, while music stays at level set at.  So obviously there's an issue there with voice and fx not 'remembering' new settings.  Hope that helps whoever has any clue  :D

hmm, where are you installing to, is your problem install on the C:\ drive?
are you using windows xp, vista or 7?
and where did you put the fresh install?

i ask these because on Vista or 7 the UAC disables BC remembering its settings for some reason,
Xp shouldnt however, but if it is, copy all essential files to a new install and delete the old one.

OK, so made clean KM install.   All working ok.  Then copied over files from backup.   No sounds again.  So clearly there's a problem somewhere most probably in one of the scripts.  As for which one, almost impossible to guess  :idk:

Seeing as unlikely to get answer here, have two options:
1) make new install and add slowly and selectively in hope might identify problem, in which case will post result here.  But could take some time.
2) make new install,  poss non-KM,  with likelihood never know what issue was.

lurok, what version of windows are you using?
because it may just be a program write permission error, have you tried running BC as an administrator, setting up your settings, and then trying to run BC normally?

that shouldn't matter if BC is being installed outside the programfiles folder...

and he already told us his OS a few posts up flarespire....

Lurok91 if you know the mods you installed in the previous KM install... install them into the new one... ONE AT A TIME and test them each.... this should find the issue.

I'm not sure we'll ever know the answer to this one.

Install back as was.  Backed up and then copied back again folder by folder.  Turned out wasn't script after all.  Can you guess what?
Turned out to be novabridge folder.  Why that one don't know, but once left out sound seemed to come back.  Finished resetting everything back, then put novabridge back in at end.  Still seems to be working, fingers crossed.  Bizarre.

Anyway, Jimmy can you please lock thread?
