ok just watched it and that last shot looks more like it was cg enhanced and not an actual cg replacement.
Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

Yeah, you kinda have to wait a good 20 - 30 minutes for it to load properly.  Hopefully that's because lot's of traffic.  I put together a web album for those who still can't see it.

Fixed link, HD pictures.
Thanks for letting me know the forum was back up, guys.  I thought everyone died.

Now that you say that I definitely see it.  The enhancements bring a lot more depth into the model.

On one side I'm obviously very excited about this...

On the other, this is most likely going to be (when the entire series is complete) ridiculously expensive.

And that's shameful.

lol it isn't any diff from how the older DVD releases were. They were and still are quite expensive.

Ugh, the only reason I have TOS is I managed to get it cheap.

Like I said... shameful.

I'm still after quite a few years building my collection of all the series' DVD's. Because they're so expensive it's taken me so long. I shop for the best deals and sometimes, there are pretty good ones but it saddens me that the makers/creators of the Star Trek (as a whole) DVD's decide to charge so much for them.

Most of them don't need to be remade....

The Enterprise looks freakin' gorgeous! Incredible!

I almost had the same reaction (stunned silence + Ceased facial bloodflow + dislocated jaw) to the Enterprise reveal as I had to the final scene of Sunday's Breaking Bad.

Remains to be seen if the 4-foot model fairs as well. I imagine the pronounced hull plating will be a little over-the-top in HD, and the differences between the models will be glaring.

Still... TNG in glorious, beautiful HD!

Klingon Academy now works on XP/Vista/Win 7 thanks to one dude's patches, click here for details. I highly recommend it!

There is ofcourse another possibility...

They might revamp the entire series to use the "same model" in CGI, much like they did for TOS Remastered (after much tinkering). Still, the HD TNG Intro shown in the trailer looks bloody amazing compared to the original intro.

Doubtful, or else they would just replace the Enterprise with the CGI for all scenes, and that's obviously not the case.  Why?  Simple.  Every CGI Galaxy class that has been built for Star Trek, including the Enterprise-D shown in the Enterprise finale, have had all three impulse engines lit up.

With the exception of the D in Generations....

It is possible that they just kept the 6-foot model for the title sequence but they may switch over to CGI for the actual episodes.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

A CGI Galaxy was used at one point in Generations.
