can't ba bigger cuz the windows in the middle of the front side of the the saucer are quite large, if these are windows, if don't then suitable size for the ship would be around 500 meters

Actually I reduced the window size since the last texture update.  You should be able to get a good since of scale by looking at how large the escape pods are.  She may be a little bit smaller than the Sovereign, but that's it.  The bridge dome is heavily armored, so that makes it look larger.  The shuttlebay doors are maybe three decks in height, maybe four.

FarShot, I made a quick view of my idea for the housing when the nacelle extends.  I'm not good at doing art kind of stuff, so...just imagine the warp coils visible in the parts previously covered by the housing.

@Shadow, that looks like a good design, but it looks like the nacells would snap as soon as they engaged the warp drive... (unless theres supposed to be something in the empty bits there)

@Farshot, thats really good to hear, cant wait to see the pics :D

Like I said flarespire, I suck at doodling, especially Trek-nology. :P  That's why I said imagine warp coils in those bits.

Awesome ships.  I come by this forum from the Starship Combat News which is a site which makes miniatures for starship combat (duh).

Just wondering if any of these models would be able to be converted so they could be printed as a physical model at www.shapeways.com

Though that would be neat, I happen to know that Shapeways has very strict guidelines for printing.  Warp nacelle pylons would be too thin unless the ship was made bigger, and in many cases, you lose detail.

I know that a lot of people are interested in the ships from STO.  Do you have a write up on how you captured that data?

Unfortunatley that cant be discussed openly here, all ill say is google "3dviaprintscreen" and "KoichiSenada" then if you have 3ds max you should be set.

I don?t think that is really needed to extend the naceles for other reason than inovative purposes. The design is already a beauty as it is. ;)

The whole Nacell extension thing was originally designed in such a way that i would improove engine output and effiencey (more vents = more power output = less overall cost to goto warp speeds... i think :roll)

it does seem more innovative ill agree, but its the ships main unique characteristic and it would be a shame if it couldnt be implimented.

I plan to implement it.

And the idea I had for it was that this was a slipstream vessel and the extension improved the ride through the quantum tunnel.  That combined with the Dauntless-like deflector.

That makes sense.  And what did you think of my idea for the extension?

My current version actually looks a lot like that, though the slice is vertical not diagonal.

Mind if we take a look see?

also i like your idea of using the extension of the nacells to stabalize traveling inside the quantumn tunnel.

Voyager had short nacelles, Aventine had long.  I figured I could use that as a reason for why quantum slipstream worked better on the Aventine.

I'd post a render but I am not near my computer.
