Thanks for all the feedback everybody.  So far the ship is 8600 polygons.  I decided to redo the warp engines to be more TLE era looking than they were before.  Any suggestions before I start to texture it?

I've also included a wireframe image for those who want to see it.

those nacelles are much much better!  :)
quick question - are the only phaser strips located on the saucer section?

I disagree. :idk:  I dislike the Ambassador style nacelles, and the previous one seemed slightly more unique.

Other than preferring the previous nacelles, this is a very nice model!

I concur with Shadowknight on the nacelles. You could use them both and make two variants ;) Add TMP style phasers to the old nacelle version for example, and when you map the thing they could share UV's ;)

On the wireframe: looks good, a few pointers: You can get the poly count down still without loosing on the looks. Look at the wireframe of my TMP Connie's saucer, you can optimize cilindrical and spherical objects that way without loosing on the looks. Second thing: when you boolean/cut/etc. something, fix up the triangulation afterwards, modeling programs tend to be stupid with figuring it out. Smoothing works in triangles, and how you draw the lines can greatly improve how smooth a surface looks ;)

Here's a new ship I've been working on for the last couple of days.  It's at the point now where I feel comfortable showing it to you guys.  Let me know what you think.

Brilliant!! Something familiar but fresh, really liking it. Just not a fan of those shaped deflectors.

Canon is what people argue exists on ships that don't exist.

"I'd like to get my hands on her ample nacelles if you'll pardon the engineering parlance."

That is some well-done mesh!  I'm really digging the throwback to the Enterprise D saucer section.  And the blend of that with the Nova is very well envisioned.

Here is another ship that I started yesterday.  Actually, part of the secondary hull I had built for another ship, but it is heavily modified.  The nacelles are adapted from the ship in the pictures above.

To me, it looks like a more intimidating, more heavily armored, more badass version of the Ambassador Class. Me likes :)
