Star Trek Starship Collection
« on: May 31, 2013, 01:21:14 PM »
Hello all, just wanted to share this link with you, http://www.startrek-starships.com/eng/index.asp this company is based in the UK, and accepting pre orders from the US, and UK for their magazine subscription that comes with a very cool miniature ship.  They start issue #1 in August, I read around 72 ships are planned to be made.  The ships seem to be around the same size of the Hot Wheels Star trek ships around 5-6 inches long.  Their facebook page is also updated, and they just released their excelsior model for review this morning. Here is the link to their facebook page https://www.facebook.com/StarTrekStarships

These are nice, might pick some of them up, but not every one.  Noticed that they have the JJprise in one list so gonna keep an eye out for that.  It's bound to look better than Hot Wheels' version.

Has anyone else collected more of these? So far I've got the Galaxy, NX, D'deridex, Intrepid, Excelsior, Deep Space Nine and Defiant. The Constitution Refit is on it's way in the post, too.

Recent picture of my collection (minus Defiant)
USS Defiant

So far, I've been extremely pleased with the quality of the models. The Excelsior looks a bit small, but that's probably due to how long and thin the ship is.

I've been keeping an eye on these little ships and they look good, but I'm definitely waiting for some of the more obscure ones like the U.S.S. Thunderchild and the Valdore.  Oh and...

I was right.  So very, very, VERY right.

Not even the final version and it's better than the Hot Wheels, Playmates, and Hallmark versions.  It's going to be about 8.5" long.  I cannot stress how much I want this one.

Cannot wait  :dance

I've wanted a nice small model of the NuTrek Enterprise for ages, couldn't find the hotwheels one at reasonable price and others are too big. Nearly got the kit but I don't think I could do the painting any justice

Hopefully they add the aztec "sheen" like they did on the NX-01 model.

It's very faint in this shot, but you can see it.

And in the first image I posted, you can see aztecing on the nacelles and secondary hull.  Again, stressing that this isn't the final version, which is why it is missing several things like the nacelle registry, Starfleet pennants on the secondary hull, and windows.

I'm really enjoying the collection - my recently-received Defiant model is my new favourite toy.

I was taking photos of her with my phone, and decided to see what photo manipulation software there was on the Google Play Store. I paid ?4.49 for Photoshop Touch, and started messing with a couple of the photos I took of the Defiant with my DST Enterprise-B.

Photoshop Touch is amazing. Here's an Imgur album showing the photos I manipulated to produce these images.

Klingon Academy now works on XP/Vista/Win 7 thanks to one dude's patches, click here for details. I highly recommend it!

Just seen from the newer pics on the Facebook page that the nacelle registry number is too far back, and the nacelles are missing the long bits on the inside. Hope they fix that before mass producing :/

The registry is too far back and they have one on the inside of the nacelle too.  And something about the Starfleet pennant on the engineering hull is off too.  They are still stressing that this isn't the final model which isn't coming out until at LEAST April if not later.

The picture we're referring to:

As can I.  It's still infinitely better than most of the other models.

Oh yeah not final, but I can't help but think of the emblem on the side of the defiant and and the name on the excelsior. Hopefully they'll notice while they have time to fix them

They probably have already gone into production. They couldn't get the NCC 1701 Refit correct so I Imagine it will be another model with one point to criticise. Shame they can't make these ships to a consistent quality.

As for the "JJ Prise" Outside its a nice looking ship however there are some areas inside the ship, main example being the engine room which are a bit out of proportion design wise vs exterior. I do think they could have made the colours of the bussard collectors red/orange to match the NCC 1701 Consitution Class. We have already seen the USS Vengence. What ever would a Enterprise A Connie Refit look like or a Enterprise D in the JJ world??

I am a subscriber to the collection (at the moment) but I am disapointed with spellings mistakes in the magazines and errors and quality on some models.

If only the model for the NCC 1701 Refit matched the quality of the USS Reliant Miranda Class Refit Model.

These people forgot to send me issue 1. Then stated I would have to wait bc it's on back order, I just received issue2/3 and I must say the constitution class is terrible. They didn't paint the windows like they did the BOP, it looks like crap, the secondary hull is the worst. I may cancel the subscription bc the quality of that 1701 refit was embarrassing to say the least.
